Thinking of get rid of all my Rats albums and singles plus tapes. All Albums and singles in the right cover's plus the I don't like Mondays white record. Go man go single All 12 singles 4 from ITLG two from V deep and one from Fine art Someone's looking at you 12ins which is same as the single Plus Looking after No 1 12 ins single all in great order.
Funny you should write that; had same thought over the holidays, prompted by the Go Man Go single enquiry. Also conscious that family will only add to skip or charity shop at best when I peg it
Only thing that stopped me was recalling the sweat and tears that went into amassing collection Still can't believe I parted with £10 in 78 (£10!!) for 12" Looking after no 1.
Market might be limited to hardy souls on here though, and suspect you'll have to sell individually. Good luck with the sale.
Derek is on a mission to own every copy released though so you might get lucky.

Thinking on the same lines here myself mate ha ha. The only one. I would keep would be the fine art as my Daddy ( Who's no longer in this world) Got me this LP for xmas 79. But more an likely I will just keep them as they have been in my life longer than both my mum and dad
I could post on FB, if you let me have your email address. I could ask people to private message me for your email. A catalogue would be good so I can show what is available.
That would have been 3 weeks paper round money for me
If nothing else I'm thinking I should catalogue what I've got now. Problem with old age is I look at stuff on eBay, think that sounds interesting, then realise I have it!

Odd enough had a wee paper round myself in the morning B4 school then at night time I got 5 pounds for working six days between 1977 until 1979 (then it became uncool to do paper rounds) a week ( round about two hours a day/night) Is this where they get the min wage from ha ha. Helped me get my 1st undertones lp which is in the top 50 album to hear b4 you head of to see Big G. Odd enough Teenage kicks was not on it?? Did love Here comes the summer

Bring them to your local Oxfam and sign a gift aid form. You can then get a small tax rebate. Not worth selling on eBay, probably cost you more in postage and packaging and the listing price. Go Man Go may fetch a bit more, and if they are Mulligans rather than Ensign they may attract a bit of interest but on the whole they aren't particularly sought after. Problem is they sold so many copies back in the day, none are rare.

If you have any old Damned records lying around, I'd be interested. Aside from Machine Gun Etiquette, Smash It Up and the later singles (Generals, Grimly Fiendish, Eloise etc.), I don't have many. I blame their year long hiatus in 1978 when they were The Doomed and Les Punks.
Sex Pistols, Elvis Costello, Clash and Jam have umpteen re-issues, so I have most of theirs (bar the ultra rare ones) and I had most of Blondie, The Stranglers and Rats from back in the day though all are relatively easy to get thanks to the large volumes they shifted back in the day.

Got a white vinyl 7" New Rose that may be relatively hard to find I guess, but have never checked. Other than that only everyday stuff, and not much at that, unless I can interest you in my autographed 7" pic sleeve of "Croydon" by the good Captain ??

I just bought the 7" along with Mary for a couple of quid. I did get the 12" many years later for a couple of quid on eBay. Never spent much on records back then as we used to exchange and tape them. It was only last year that I finally got London Calling and The Jam LPs on vinyl!
My biggest extravagance was £130 for all the Suede LPs a couple of years ago. Now selling at £500+. And then the cheeky blighters did a 7" singles box set which was a bit fake as most of the songs were never released on 7" along with Dog Man Star special editions. Needless to say I didn't get them.
I just hope no one decides to give Pulp the re-release treatment.

I know I'll only get buttons for them. Only some Mulligan's singles Rat trap/someone's looking at u and don't like Mondays. Go man go is on WEA and the 1st LP is on Mulligan's the rest are all Ensign/Mercury. More than likely just keep them.

As strange as it sounds, I really want the black vinyl one, the white one was a re-issue. I won't worry about the Croydon single!
Another 7" single I am on the look out for is Hey Jude with a solid centre.
Before the vinyl revival, I was getting hold of loads of old albums at bargain prices from charity shops, but alas the prices have gone up in the last four or five years.

Would be worth sticking the first LP and Go Man Go on eBay. Might get you a round of drinks. I assume Rat Trap and Someone's Looking have the same cover, but is Rat Trap the Grime or No Grime version? (Check the run off)
I must admit I love collecting rats vinyl. Have ordered live in Germany lp pre order which is out end of month play my vinyl regularly so maybe I'm just an anorak when it comes to the rats still pot on a night like this on vhs & dvd so it just goes to show how I am with these items

I pretty much had all the Rats vinyl from back in the day, so all I have done in recent years is embellish a bit (US albums, 12" where I had 7" and vice versa) . Won't worry about the Germany LP. Well not unless my lucky numbers come up tomorrow night. Right now, Suede and Bowie are on my to buy list along with FFS, which for some unknown reason I haven't bought yet.
I like collecting records, but in a fairly organic impulsive way often determined by what Oxfam have on their racks on Saturday afternoon.

I'm the same, can only think of two records I've ordered new, wouldn't go scratching around for lone discs online.
Does mean I only have odds and sods per band, like, so if anyone ever sold a decent job lot my ears might prick up, ebay is only ever filled with scruffy bundles of singles.

I did get a pile of Elvis Costello LPs on eBay a couple of years ago which was a bit of a mixed bag. I had a couple of them, and when I played King of America, I remembered that some of his LPs generally sounded crap thanks to the groove cramming.
I must admit I often come away from Oxfam empty handed, but every now and again amongst the Phil Colic LPs that have been discarded there is the odd gem. They had The Undertones All Wrapped Up (Lady Gaga? Pah!) for a tenner the other day which was very tempting, but I did manage to resist!

I think the grime reference is to what is scratched onto vinyl between the run off grooves, ie. no grime here paddy. May be wrong?
Also, and think we covered this elsewhere, I don't think there's a 7" version with pus and grime lyrics, unless on Old gold or something maybe?
I have She´s So Modern 7" promo on the way + Rat Trap with different sleeve on the way from Portugal and the live album coming from Germany. So yes I am still madly collecting my stuff. So happy I have a record player again.
I don't think my vinyl amounts to much, wouldn't be worth anything. I have about 3 or 4 singles and a couple of albums. Most of my early Rats is on tape. Nobody wants that. Some are worn through from over play. I have a few copies where I've had to buy it again. I wouldn't want to part with it, even though I can't play the vinyl.
