I should imagine it will be good, Simon is a superb drummer who put a lot of thought into his work which he undertakes still with much energy and enthusiasm. A real lynchpin of the Boomtown Rats, I'm sure he will make a really big impact on the new album. I also think that when you recall some of the more acrimonious aspects of the 2000's, Simon mostly retained an air of tact and diplomacy that was helpful to the reconciliation talks that brought about the 2013 reunion and all that we still enjoy three years later.
Just listened to first track not a bad track also drums are fab ( but I would say that as iam biased when it comes to the rats) so giving this cd aplay
Finished listening to jiggerypipery pipers a lot of folky bagpipes etc but some great drumming from Simon although this is completely different to the rats I'm still enjoying it he is brill. I would say the backbone of the rats
Yes, his drumming with the Rats is excellent but don't forget his backing vocals. That really added to the Rats sound. I reckon he could have even done a couple more lead vocals tracks to go with Fall Down. I always wonder why he sang Up or Down live but not on the lp/cd.
