Charmed Lives failed to chart and none of the 'Grass' singles got higher than 50.
Although, they all should have done after Charmed Lives.
Perhaps if they could have got Drag me Down ready for an Autumn '83 release, too much time would not have passed since April 1982 and as a lead single, it may have troubled the top 30. It is at least as good as House on Fire?
Yeh I remember their performance on totp sad day when not on again till 1994 with reissue bof mondays. Just video of Monday's though should've been popular longer than they were
This shows how they were forgotten about. A friend came round and saw my rats 6 album box set and said they thought rats only had 2 songs and was surprised when I said 11top 40 singles did not believe me. Just shows how naive some people are
Agree. What I don't get is that a lot of people did think they where a one hit wonder With Don't like Mondays. Which I have to say is a good wee song But theirs much more to the Rats than this Like yourself I to have been playing the songs to some friends and they could not believe how good they are. Just goes to show you.

I prefer Drag Me Down to House On Fire. While HOF is indeed a good tune and has good lyrics the Rats are almost made redundant by all the session musicians performing on it.Drag Me Down is largely the Rats.Funny just the other day apropos of nothing Drag Me Down was stuck in my head. I was really impressed with it back in the day, as the Rats seemed to have disappeared. The song just seemed to resonate with me for some reason.

Like this song myself. But I do prefer the USA one over the UK one Same as Up all night & Lucky USA one's are much better
It's a marmite thing, but I agree the US version of Drag Me Down is better than the UK version. The lyrics are a bit hard to understand in places. I don't think the UK brass ending helped. It's not a million miles away from the brass start to HOF but there, it seems to work better.
