Have to say what a great wee album this was/is. In my opinion completely overlooked on it's release. Dave. A Hold of me, Drag me down.Tonight,Hard times. How this album and the singles that came of it were never hit's I will never understand to this day In my top 3 best of Rats LPs
I think I said before that this is my fave lp it shouldn't have flopped it was the best lp of 1984 by a mile not enough nairplay or promotion though sadly. If I could only have 1 lp Niall the world it would be this one
Tremendous album. Drag me Down should have been the lead single, followed by Dave and then Hard Times. If a fourth single was necessary, Another Sad Story. Was never a great fan of the album cover though.
I have just received the US version on vinyl and transferred it to CD. I cannot get the excellent versions of DMD and Lucky out of my head. Dave sounds daft as Rain however.

Yeah have this myself on tape only. DMD & Lucky are much better I think I pointed this out b4 somewhere on this form. The song Rain that's just mad. I do have the USA Mondo Bongo on cd along with The fine art & Tonic which has Mary on the forth form & Joey on it All 3 cd's and tape are a much better sound than the UK release's
Pity that Lucky and DMD(USA versions) were not put onto the cds when they were re released.I have always enjoyed ITLG but I have always believed releasing Tonight as the first single was a mistake.Dave I believe would have been the better first single.
loved us version of lucky& drag me down wished they'd released them in uk also wish doing it( mystery song from1983)'had been released on itlg it is a fab song
Personally, I think Lucky should have been released as a single- it's got a powerful intro, great instrumentals, the whole shabang. Lyrical content wouldn't have been too bad of a problem, they changed it for the US version anyway.
