Anyone going to Leopardstown and want to meet up befor gig? I was thinking about a pub in Dun Laoghire maybe, which is about 20 mins from Leopardstown. Some good veggie pubs there. Any other suggestions welcome-whatever suits.
I'm up for meeting. Assume you mean 20 minute walk?
If so, more than happy to let you recommend somewhere. Keep Jules in loop as she can organise any Facebook bods who don't know what they're missing not being on here

I just suggested Dun Laoghire because it's where the Rats are from and grew up in.Fairly close to Leopardstown though not sure how long it would take to walk. There are loads of good pubs there like Gilbert and Wright, the Purty Kitchen etc
The Leopardstown Inn in actually in Leapardstown and serves food. Well known established bar.

These are just some suggestions. Will get back to you/Jules on Monday. Anywhere convenient will do if you have a bit of time before the gig, don't want to put anyone out by being too far away from the Racecourse. If Jules has anywhere else in mind let me know.
Leopardstown is in an industrial estate (no character) with 2 Hotels; The Beacon and Bewleys (Clayton). The Lep Inn is the only decent "gastro pub" in the area.
I agree with Noelindublin that Dun Laoghaire (plenty of character and Rat connections) would be a better option but it's too far of a walk. Taxi's can be expensive too.
If you meet in Dublin city you can get a tram (LUAS) for 2.80 to Sandyford and Free shuttle bus to the racecourse.
Plenty of restaurants at the racecourse too.
The rule is the gig starts 10 minutes after the last race. Last nights gig started at 8.45 and was over around 10.15. Nightclub onsite but not great for over 30s.

Hey Noel, how do you spell Dun Laoghaire?
Thanks for tips both you and Harry. 'The Lep' looks a bit classy lol, one of those places you get a slice of meat and one potato for 15 euro, but I'm happy to go anywhere.
Sounds like town or Dun Laoghaire are favourites - only concern being a fair number are staying at Clayton near gig, so means going away to come back.
Is the Bewley's/Clayton bar known to anyone? Guessing it's up a notch on prices and maybe like Lep.
I don't mind, I don't mind, I don't mind, I don't mind......
Just looked more carefully at Leopardstown Inn...looks good to me, and guessing only 10 minute walk away from course? Good for the 700 bus from airport too.
If it gets others' votes then looks as good as any.

Leopardswon Inn is probably the most convenient.I can get the 118 bus from town which basically stops outside it (Brewery rd) It's very close to Leopardstown Racecourse, less than 5 mins. Jules the 118 goes from D'olier St, near Trinity College via Leapardstown to Kilternan, Wicklow. That's in you are in the city centre area. The Green Line tram from St Stephen's Green goes to Dundrum and there is free bus to the racecourse from there,as Harry H has said.
The Dun Laoghaire option would probably mean a bit of a detour for everyone, and a taxi ride to the racecourse to boot.
So do we all agree on the Leopardstown Inn?

I'm not up for any extra travelling around on the day. Only out of hospital a few weeks ago and still very exhausted. Just want to get in from Dublin city centre, have a rest and put again.
Yes I posted from 3 pm Lep Inn. Is that ok? It might be a bit posh for us, but limited choice locally. Bars/restaurants in there won't be much different.
Hope to be in The Leopardstown Inn bewteen 5-6pm. I've got some local taxi numbers as the journey from the pub to the racecourse is pretty hard to figure out. They've put in some new roundabouts last year to add to the confusion. Well I find it hard to figure out anyway.
We are going to stay at our hotel and eat/drink here. Sorry about all the changes. Noel, have you got this. Can we somehow let Noel know? I can't find his number.
Sorry for misquoting you. I meant Sandyford LR station but somehow said Dundrum. Shuttle bus goes every 10 mins and last bus in 11pm after gig finishes. If you're going Harry enjoy the gig.
