Not sure if the full concert is available, but this is cool. Bob gets really stroppy with the audience.Classic Geldof banter from way back when.

Absolute classic Noel, how did you find this ?. This for me was when the Rats put themselves on the map. I can remember going in to school with NME, Melody maker etc and stuffing it down the throats of the doubters, happy days

I just check YouTube on a regular  basic for new additions.Just use the 'date added' filter button, so than it's easy to spot stuff you've not seen before.

Apart from Geldof's classic irritability with the audience it's interesting that this was recorded about a month before the song was released as a single in the UK. It was not a number one hit single at that stage. Perhaps the guys at the back of the audience would be quicker on the uptake if the concert had just been a few weeks later .

Photo is Geldof and Peter Gabriel (and friend) at Knebworth 78.

This was the second Knebworth concert of 1978 held early September, the first was in June. The organisers figured it would pay to leave the stage up if they could attract some big names to come and play 10 weeks or so later. 45,000 attended, not quite as many as June.

As regards YouTube, between me, Suss and Noel, we've basically got new additions covered off! I check most weeks at least once a week and sometimes the same clip even gets posted twice under different topic names. Knebworth can also be found on Singalongarat. There must be loads out there, waiting for someone to wake and make a life for them, online. I know I have loads of vhs cassettes in the loft with stuff on but I now don't even own a vcr anymore. I was telling a friend and fellow fan in Devon that Bob had been on This is Your Life in January 1985 and found it easier to post the cassette of it to her than anything else!

Sorry I missed you posting this on singalong  rat. Not much happening in rat world lately. I did find the Hants and Surrey News saying From The Jam played their hit singles Banana Republic  and Down In The Tube Station at Midnight at the recent Wayfest Festival in August. smile

I think there's a delicious irony in a local newspaper reporter trying to lampoon Bob Geldof for his location error whilst immediately proceeding to attribute a Rats classic to the Jam.
