Just watched this. Not going to reveal the position, except to say Geldof was higher than my guess. I got the top 3 right (not that hard) but felt Sir Elton was rated inadequately and to not even make the top ten, doesn't sit right with me.

I was surprised Bowie wasnt #1. Agree that Elton was lower than expected, ditto Noddy Holder. Of those ahead of Geldof, Meat Loaf was the only one I would not have expected. Also there was no Elvis Costello at all. I have seen 12 of the top 20 live.

I feel number one was spot on really. Noddy should have been a little higher. Yes, a few notable omissions.
OK, the big reveal - Geldof was 8th. Ahead of Elton John (11th) among others.
The top ten (might have 5 & 6 wrong way around- will check on re-run)
1. Freddie Mercury
2. David Bowie
3. Mick Jagger
4. Roger Daltrey
5. John Lydon
6. Marc Bolan
7. Meat Loaf
8. Bob Geldof
9. Phil Lynott
10. Rod Stewart
Off to see another notable omission from top ten in March. Bryan Ferry.
I think he's bland and his music, especially of more recent origin, even blander. Never got this 'stylish, sophisticated' tag people attach to him. I once heard it said he was more likely to decorate a hotel room than destroy it.
Not surprised he was an omission, let alone a notable one.

Good job he mainly does Roxy Music songs live. He was in top 20.

Geldof and Briquette are big Ferry fans.
They were playing The In Crowd on repeat on a boat all morning not so long ago
(Geddit, Ferry! Boat! In Crowd! It's all in there! I'll get my coat)
Also Do The Strand was on Geldof's Under The Influence compilation
Of top 20 only 6 I haven't seen in the flesh. However 3 of them are dead (Bolan/Lynott/Scott). Might even see Iggy Pop this summer if I get another freebie for All Points East. Which would just leave Rod and Meatloaf...
