Totally agree Mike, this was worth the wait. Some great comments on You Tube, where there have been over 500 views since midnight. Wondering when we should get to see the video?

Decent enough song with a bit of verve and energy behind it. Like the lyrics, Geldof's great ability to observe a character shows up again. His voice sounds a bit worn and croaky, maybe it's just on this particular song.

This might sound better live.

Certainly shows potential for rest of album though I'm hoping for a lot better.

I'd give it 6.5/10 because I don't feel the overall tune really takes off. Chorus is a little flat and underwhelming but in terms of 'spirit' and attitude its heading in the right direction.

I find YouTube views to be a good gauge of public interest.

As of 11 am Saturday 11 January 4,012 have listened to the song. Not bad in my opinion and that figure should keep on climbing.

I think I listened to it about 8 times and am generally well disposed to it, though still have some reservations. It's not perfect but beats the c**p out of anything on the Ratlife ep.

One guy on Facebook says he listened to it over 30 times.

 Good summing up of the song. Are you happy with it and what marks out of ten would you give it? 

Not sure about dalek voice. I think he sounds a bit hoarse and croaky but could be just the type of singing the song is geared for. Like his voice on,say a song like Mary Says. He sounds more emotional.  Same with Dave.

 Look the way I see it. Its the Rats and any new song (no matter how good or bad it is} Is fine by me. As I never in a million years this would happen again in my life time. I would put this one in-between Go man Go and House on fire An 8 in my opinion . The more I hear it the more I'm liking it.

 I think the number of views in just over 24 hours is remarkable. On YouTube, it looked like one guy was going down the anti Sir thing for some bizarre reason and then was tackled well by an obvious fan and then eventually admitted he liked the song. So as you say Noel, not one negative remark. But where is the video, lyrics etc? Maybe the Birmingham video shoot was not for Trash Glam Baby? Also a lot of unanswered queries about a physical product.

Be interested if you go up a notch Noel from 6.5 after the earworm effect of this fantastic song.

 Pretty certain there will be a vinyl single with a b side not on album . I think they are just checking the initial reaction.  Very unlikely a CD single, don't think anyone does that nowadays. 

I'm probably  a hard taskmaster and I'll stick with my 6.5/10. For me it doesn't beat anything off ITLG. Seems almost a throwaway song indicating that everything will be ok as long as there's rock 'n roll. A bit like How Do You Do? Thematically rather than musically. Very Mott the Hoople/Roxie Music mid 70s glam rock concerns.

Dont even think the tune is that good. But don't get me wrong. I'm not dissing it, just that I feel a bit more cautious and uninclined to rave about it.  Maybe the vinyl b side will be better. Who knows?

Definitely not better than Hard Times or Over Again or Tonight or Dave or Drag Me Down imho. Anyway hopefully there will be tracks I can rave about on the new album.

 Lookin' good. Amazed that there is not one 'dislike' out of 200 responses. Normally the anti Bob mob make their feelings known about his music or politics , but no derision or vitriol so far!

Expecting a mini spike in figures tomorrow's after Steve Wright Show. I like tracking the YouTube views because they are a good guide to interest in any subject. If there were only a few hundred checking out the song that would tell a whole different story.

I pretty much agree with everything you wrote in the thread, so little point in me repeating it! It's definitely better than the Ratsh!t ep.  It's better than singles like Charmed Lives,  Diamond Smiles and Million Years.

Best new song I have heard this year.  In fact, best new song I have heard this decade. 

Wonder if anything will better it in the next 3,640 days...

If you look at the styles throughout the decades you had the 50's/60's 70's (with many many styles) and 80's even 90s all with different competing styles that kids emulated. What do kids have now? The 2010's were no different to 2000's which were largely no different to the 90's.

So yes, retro, but that is what kids will do. Search for something in the past. I think the lyrics are fine -

Friday morning 800 views and lots of comments

Friday 4pm, it had changed to 77 views and 1 comment (from about 20 in am)

All those people who bothered to give positive comments just vanished into the ether. Weird and annoying when this happens.

A number of reviews now on Amazon, all 5 stars, including this one seemingly from the US :

 Great going. It's astonishing that Radio 2 has Bob in for the afternoon, Steve Wright says the single is brilliant and then they ignore it for the rest of the month. Maybe the release of the vinyl (well predicted, Noel) will provoke interest. Release by drip feed seems to be the strategy?

 Not sure why the vinyl was not released on same day as the digital version. They might have shifted a lot more with the initial rush of enthusiasm and goodwill.

Don't  know why people are surprised about a vinyl release, its what most bands worth their salt do with the resurgence of interest in said format. These are collectable and likely to be purchased at gigs as well as online store.

Maybe lyrics  was the reason song was not played on radio. Bob was on radio in Midlands/Birmingham this morning so have to catch up with what he said.
