Has anybody got the lyrics to "Late Last Night"? I can hardly figure out anything except "Was it something I ate late last night?"

Oh were you really frightened, cos I heard you late last night?

You were screaming, are you dreaming? Is it ok? It's alright

Oh no, oh no must be something I ate late last night

There's terror in the shadows and there's horror in the night

Oh I don't like it in the dark, I'm not so sure about the light

Oh no, oh no must be something I ate late last night

Chorus: Late Last Night I heard the madness stir inside my brain

Late Last Night I was calm I couldn't take the strain

Late Last Night I never want to hear that sound again

I'm falling and I'm spinning and I'm dying in my dreams

And the flies are sucking at my sores, Im leaking at the seams

Oh no, it must be something I ate late last night

Chorus

Is it something I said? Is it something you'd die for?

Swirl a stick around my head and look inside it's always black and brown

I see white rooms, I see white tiles, white roofs and pure white walls and there's a neon strip of icy blue that's shining in the hall,

and then the blood, the blood starts seeping through the ventilator screen.

It's dribbling from behind the wall and soon I hear the screams.

Oh no, it must be something I ate late last night

Chorus

Last night oh oh late last night yeah yeah yeah etc

There is a live version from the Rainbow Theatre, December 1978, which Bob introduces as a new song getting only its second airing. This can be easily found on YouTube. Song intro starts about 14 minutes in. Don't believe it was played live much so great to have it here for posterity.

I think some of the words of this live version are different.

Fascinatingly there is also a very good demo version which I heard years back and may still be available through contacts on this forum.

Well done to Mark for transcribing the lyrics, which can be found on the 2005 Surfacing CD reissue.

They are elsewhere on here, courtesy of Suss so hats off to him really, but the 2005 cd reissue lyrics did contain a couple of obvious errors/omissions which I tidied up. I always thought the line '' Swirl a stick around my head and look inside it's always black and brown" was "it's always blackened.. out" so this is possibly misheard lyrics. Or mistyped lyrics?

My apologies if I should have entered that in the current climate under the Misheard Lyrics thread, or begun a new thread of Mistyped Lyrics.
