This is Jenny - Jacki's mum. I have admired Bob for a long long time and am thrilled that he is my daughters idol. I had never seen him live so was really looking forward to it.
WOW - he was fantastic. He is still singing in fine form and it was a brilliant night. He was on stage for at least two and a half hours. And I loved the way he gave us glimpses of his life inbetween songs and how certain songs came about. Be it humerous or sad. I have to admit I am a Bob follower for his humanitarian work mostly but now I am converted to his music as well. My daughter sure has good taste!!!
My favourite singer is Paul Young and I have already posted a report of Bobs gig on Pauls site, and told them all how good it was. I know Paul and Bob are still good friends.
His band were fab too and it was definately a highlight in my life to have been there.
After the show we were lucky enough to meet him and get photos and autographs.
Jacki had brought along his autobiography and the new "Geldof in Africa" book. We also brought the cover of Live 8 and he signed them all for her. I couldn't help myself and asked if I could give him a hug, and he said yes, so I did and he hugged me back. OMG. I then kissed his cheek and whispered to him how much he means to our family and thanked him for all he is doing for the Third World. That was it for me, emotion took over and I was an emotional wreck and moved away in tears, leaving him to others getting autographs.
He is gorgeous, genuine, caring, inspirational and Yes there is definately a presense about him.
To meet him was a dream come true for both Jacki and myself and it was definately an honour.
He really does care about his fans.
Jenny
Follow your dreams for as you dream so shall you become.
I have a question about meeting him? Was it at the back stage door? How many fans were there? I met him there before the show and it was nice to meet him again.
The show?
It was FANTASTIC! I bigger crowd than 2002 and much bigger than I expected. He played for 2 and half hours and was full of great stories, anecdotes and one liners (for those drunken ppl in the crowd).
The band seemed in fine form too. Great to have Bob and the boys back in Sydney again....
