Thank you very much - I have seen that list. Was having a chat with my friend about The Tube the other day and we were wondering whether the band's appearance in 1985 was one of the last times they performed live on TV.

They played live on the Late Late Show on RTE in 2021, so no. Not sure about the UK.

KR may have being referring to 'classic period' 1977-86. Very last tv appearance then was at Self Aid, live on RTE television. Don't think anyone has completed an international list of known tv appearances. Clips surface from Germany, Spain, USA, Netherlands, Norway, Ireland etc. It's all a bit random but you never know what might turn up. There may be more localised USA appearances but these are hard to find. There is a full concert from the Netherlands some time in 1979 but the production company who own the rights have not released it. Years ago Having My Picture Taken was on YouTube with Geldof inviting fans onstage to dance. It was really high quality and was likely shown on Dutch tv back in the day. I keep meening to track that down or dig into who actually filmed it. By tracking the live gigs it's reasonable to assume they may have appeared on tv in whatever country they were playing in eg there is bootleg audio from Sweden in 1978 so there may be Swedish archive tv footage of the band if the were on tv at that time. Who knows what a google search in a local language might throw up!
Post 86 Rats have been on tv a good bit in Ireland, a few times on the Imelda May Show, and on BBC NI as well as a full Geldof 70th birthday special Late Late Show.
Btw the Rats are listed as appearing on the Whistle Test in February 1984. Anyone know if this was a live set because I cannot find any details of the songs performed ? Billy Bragg and Steve Nieve were on the show the same night.

I don't think anyone will You Tube is likely to be the best source. If anyone finds other performances, let me know and I will add them to the wiki. Though in all honesty, it has been neglected for the last 13 years or so and I lack the enthusiasm to update it these days.
The Whistle Test was a clip from their Sight and Sound in Concert broadcast on BBC2 the following night (11th Feb). The gig was filmed at Goldiggers nightclub in Chippenham - you can find the programme info & setlist here - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03czdtl
