I remember him as a pop show tv presenter on RTE in the 80's and 90s. Never heard of him collaborating with the Rats before and frankly don't know where this claim comes from. I doubt it very much. He was born in 1961 and lived in Co Donegal and Galway in his teenage years.
So how does a 17 year old claim a writing credit for She's So Modern (he was 17 in 1978)while he was living in the west/north west of Ireland and the Rats were based in London and touring a lot at that time. I doubt Geldof would need help from an unknown kid to help him write songs.
It's possible he may have send his own songs to Geldof or the Rats management at some stage but surely this would have emerged.
You can google his career Wiki which to me seems to involve some dubiously dealings and political parties I'm not particularly supportive of.
I suppose it's possible Kevin Sharkey had some input into the 1985 re-recorded version, but as you wrote he was 17 and in Ireland when the 1978 version was released.
And as I wrote, who the fcuk is Kevin Sharkey?
