Have a look at Eddy's site. It must be bad. He has announced the death of Geldof the "artist". Nearly gave me a heart attack. He has given up the site for good. He says he does not care about his music and about himself any more. VERY worrying.

Just Geldof being melodramatic. Anyway, noone else cares about his music, so why should Geldof?
Geldof the artist pretty much "died" back in 1991.
I'm lost for words as to what to say at the events of the last few days. I haven't been able to spend much time on the forum of late but what I've been reading in the press all weekend & here tonight is making me sick. My heart goes out to all the fans who went to see Bob in Italy. So sorry for you Jules & of course the others. One thing that caught my attention was that the venue in Milan was for 12000 people. What were the promoters thinking. He couldn't sell tickets for a venue half that size in Ireland so what makes people think he could do it in Italy. I've always being agitated by Bobs insistance to be recognised as a music star & not a humanitarian. Its time for a reality check & while I love his music it was through his love of Africa that I became interested in him.
I've often heard in the past of Bob being hurtful in his treatment of fans but I thought he had gone past that. It seems to me there is alot we don't know & it will be interesting to see what happens to the rest of the tour & if any more gigs will be cancelled. I'll also be keeping a close look for any comments that will be made by Bob in the near future.. I'm gonna sign off now & send Eddy an email of support. I feel empty after reading all the posts & wish there was some ways we could fix things..

I don't really understand why they didn't cancel the gigs sooner. If the capacity was 12,000 at Milan and they sold 45 and 100,000 at Rome and they sold 300 how did they think they were going to make up the numbers in a few weeks or even a few days. Instead they allowed us to go ahead and travel? It is odd. Not only that I didn't know until I got to the venue - and that was when I rang the promotors.
When I tried to buy tickets when they were for sale first of all, Eddy did warn me that the venues were far too big. That's why I gave up. But when Eddy ran the comp it was a bit later and I thought ah well must be still going ahead. Then it was June by the time I received my winning email. Time was getting on and I thought, well this must be going head as it is only weeks to go, so went ahead and booked my flights.
I flew with RyanAir, the flights can be changed, so had I have known and known that Bob would do another concert later I could have cancelled my trip. Still very confused. I guess I am angry (although I've been more worried about Bob to think about this) but don't know who it should be directed at as no-one will admit to fault and just blame everyone.

None of it does make sense. Your anger is very valid, and the lack of clarity makes it very difficult to know where the responsibilty actually lies.
Hopefully time will reveal some answers, but perhaps we'll never gain a full understanding.
Wow. I leave for a week's vacation and get back to this. How depressing. Jules, I'm so sorry you had to be involved in such a mess. I certainly know how you feel.
Scottie, bravo on your email campaign effort. This is exactly what I'm talking about when I say that Internet fans are a force to be used positively by the artist.
Hopefully Bob has hit rock bottom now and will be working his way back up. If he's got any kind of brains, he will put his ego asside and he will apoligize the Eddie and all his fans, then he will clean up his management team. Who in their ****ing right mind would book a 100 000 venue???
Well , I hope he bloody well appreciates it, though I think appreciation of others has never been his strong point. if anyone wants to write a supporting letter to Bob himself, I would suggest
The Priory, Faversham, Kent, England. (Not the clinic, by the way)
That is more likely to get to him than London. he is bound to have a housekeepr who collects mail when he is not there.
Ah I hadn't thought of that I was going to write to the Picasso Cafe in King's Road, he gets mail there. I'll do both. I've already sent an email via Fran and one to Vince Lovepump and Tina and Ian. The one to T&I has been passed on to Willo - what will he do with it???
They may even help with it, if they know Bob well. We could also send down copies of the letters, which we have written to any papers. If you mail them to me at scottie664@fsmail.net, I will keep them in a file for now.

While I don't know this for a fact, I seriously doubt Vince would pass on any mail critical of Geldof. Let's look at Vince's situation: He's a freelancer who occsionally works for Geldof. I don't know how large a proportion of Vince's income Geldof is responsible for, but I'm sure it's not insignificant. Geldof is Vince's boss, and Vince needs the cash. Geldof also puts a premium on loyalty. If Vince passes unpleasant information on to Geldof, he's risking his job.
The people closest to Geldof appear to be (in no particular order) Ian and Pete, and maybe Willo.
The rest of the band are freelance musicians. They're employees. They have a lot at stake if they confront Geldof.
You could also argue that they have a lot at stake if they don't confront Geldof, but I'm not convinced they'd see it that way.
Fran, I don't understand what you are talking about, my email was far from critical of Bob or anyone else. You saw my email We are also talking about sending encouraging emails to Bob, nothing negative. I am sorry you've lost me completely.

I know, Jules. Over the weekend someone else PMd me about sending mail to Pete which would contain some "hard truths." They changed their mind about it, which I'm grateful for, because I know Pete isn't happy about being in the middle of any of this.
Your post just made me realize that I don't know how many people have Vince's contact info, I mean he's a friendly guy, he might pass it out routinely.
So, if anyone's thinkng of sending less than positive email to Vince, in the hopes he passes it on, he probably wouldn't.
Jesus Christ, Ian's little tirade as "Wes" has me itching to reply with a significant amount of venom. Instead, I will exercise restraint, and walk away from the computer.
