Anyone able to help this bloke?

"I have a Boomtown Rats discography question.  I have a UK 7" of "Looking After #1" wtih an Ensign sleeve that looks just like the one listed as a 12" in your discography.  Was this commercially released?"

I think so, but I don't have the 7" P/S myself.

Steve's still checking the last query it seems, but I have a new one. I listened to this on You Tube over the weekend. It seems this version is the one I'm familiar with but everywhere there should be echo, there is none. I don't recall hearing this version before - anyone any ideas?

I bought 7" in the same sleeve as the 12" via usual channels (i.e. record shop) way back when. I know it was after She's So Modern, first single/Rats record I ever bought, but everythign else 'backlog' was snapped up pretty quick after Tonic came out, so I'd guess I bought before end 78.

Never thought it was anything rare or hard to find. Was actually more difficult to source a 12" after the event as I recall.

The cover for the 7 inch and 12 inch are the same as are the track listings.
LookinŽAfter No 1/ Born To Burn & Barefootin,Ensign ENY4
Lookin`After No 1/ Born To Burn & Barefootin,Ensign ENY 004 (12 inch).
Hope this helps.

Cheers for the replies guys.  What I was getting at (not very well) was that if you play LANO via the link,  there are no echos after 'money' 'Jack' 'stop' 'look' 'think' etc

I've never heard such a version before......

Yes Mark there certainly is less echo or reverb in the sound. I actually had this record back in the day- it was my introduction to punk. I don't have a record player but this version seems to be uploaded from vinyl. I suggest that there might have been two early mixes, one cleaner in sound (getting all techie here!) and the more familiar 'echoey' version.

But that Sire compilation was very famous in 1977 so am slightly perplexed in the two different mixes.

Sorry Mark, can't really help but I'm sure I've heard this version somewhere before, years ago, and long forgotten it until now. Maybe on another compilation? It's bugging me now.

Heres the RTE version!

your stupid ideas or ideals? Contender for misheard lyrics? I was enlightened in 1983.
