ADD ANY GELDOF APPEARANCES YOU HEAR OF IN THIS THREAD. PUT AS MUCH INFORMATION IN AS YOU CAN. DON'T WORRY ABOUT RETROSPECTIVE ENTRIES, AS THEY ARE OFTEN ACCOMPANIED WITH A DELAYED WEB CAST.
It seems to me that it is easy to miss him, if not advertised to well. This is probably directed to Scottie, as you like to do this kind of thing. What do you think about contacting the various UK TV stations and asking if they might kindly notify you of any forthcoming TV appearances? We don't seem to have any other way of knowing. If it doesn't mention guests on the advertising/magazine entries we just won't know and we'll miss him yet again. Information about repeats and online viewing would be helpful too. I don't suppose they'd be that helpful - but if we don't ask we don't get! What do you think?
I think this is a good thread to leave as a sticky and your idea is good in principle. If anyone hears of any appearances, they can put it here. It would keep the Jonathan Ross, Working Lunch interviews, etc together. Tango's article about the Sunday Times would also go here. I have started a similar thread on myspace. I think it is very important. The more publicity we can get the better, for any type of appearance/article. You are right, it is very easy to miss appearances. I only found the working lunch one by searching their site, as I knew he had been filmed, but there was no publicity about his appearance. As soon as I found him, I put it here. I don't know about contacting the tv stations. The BBC is so big. I have emailed them a few times when Bob was on a show and you get an automated reply saying that it will take 3 weeks to get read and you will probably not get a reply. I honestly think this would be too insignificant for them.
Any ideas gratefully received. Over to you about the Cheltenham Book Festival. First one to be put up? We could also start a sticky about "reviews". then they would not get lost.
What about targeting individual shows, where we think he is likely to appear? It might get a better response? How about trying those which he's already appeared on? And think about similar?
Maybe we should get a sample letter together and a few of us set about emailing a given list? And any adds to the list welcome!
He must have an agent who arranges all these appearances. maybe she/he would be the best person to contact. Would they cooperate? It would be in Bob's best interests, after all.
