Weve just got back from a really interesting business lecture at the Rioch Arena coventry Bob was the guest speaker around 3000 owners and directors of small to medium sized companies listend to Bob talk about his childhood the loss of his Mother at the age of 8 how he hated his school years
in went into some detail about the business side of runing a band how the boomtown rats became so successful quite quickly and how hard it was after 10 great years together to face up to the fact that things had moved on and there time was over
the main point of the lecture was don t be frightened of failure .in his words try something if it fails **** it dont worry just move on your only on this planet for a short while
Did he talk off the cuff? When I saw him in Glasgow, he had no script and paced up and down the stage like a caged animal. He paused for thought a few times, but otherwise rattled on. very amusing and entertaining speaker.
Pezi, there is not a link to this at the moment, but there is to the Segovia talk on another thread.
thats right-before he went on in his hotel room over lunch he was telling me and tina how he never knows what he s going to say before he goes on quite amazing really because it was a great lecture he did have to ask before hand where it was the rats played in coventry
I can't imagine that he'd need to write it in advance, he knows so much and he can prattle on for hours . And I would still be there listening to him hours later .
but this was a little differant it was a business to business event they were looking at bob as bob the entrepreneur not bob the muso or bob the saint he still carried the whole thing off with great aplomb
He's been in business for years, so that wouldn't be too difficult either. He's never lost for words and he can speak from the heart and mind on just about anything he knows anything.
This isn't criticism of him, if that's what you're thinking - quite the opposite!
not at all jules -iam just telling you what Bob said quote- what the **** i am going to talk about to this lot about i think he finds it quite funny that people want to here the thoughts of chairmen geldof
