Best Xmas singles

Band Aid is no.2 , after Slade, in the best Xmas no. ones

Mistletoe and whine

Band Aid: Do They Know Its Christmas?
Year: 1984

The chimes at the beginning, the stellar cast of top-notch singers (George Michael, Boy George, Bono, Sting etc) and the rather fine lyrics all add up to one of the best No.1s ever. Has anyone else noticed that the build-up to the chorus sounds like the Dr Who soundtrack? Good stuff we all need a few Daleks with our brandy butter, or something. Just be sure to avoid the 2004 version. Ugh!

Cheers, keep singing, Scottie

I saw the 1989 version on Vh1 yesterday & it is Cringe.... On their countdown the original is number one with Fairytale of New York 2nd..

Regards, Musicmania... To stop the flow of music would be like the stopping of time itself, incredible and inconceivable. Aaron Copland.
