Rat Trap - is no 472 down 2 places from last year when it was 470 Mondays - 231 - down from 175 last year.
I forgot to vote and spread the word. Maybe we could have pushed them slightly higher. Still it's good to know all those people who voted are still thinking of the Rats. Just beneath them are The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Verve, T-Rex and Queen.

Two songs in a top 500 isn't too bad, even if Virgin ain't that great a radio station (my opinion I hasten to add, though I'm not alone in that).
I'm always pleasantly surprised that Rat Trap makes it onto these lists as it hasn't been played on the radio for about 25 years.
But amazingly the number one song of all time is......
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
Give me a break, it ain't even in the top 5000 of 2006
Ah I didn't listen to the final part of the charts (or much of it at all come to that) but I did hear the DJ's nearly falling off their seats in amazement as they announced that Stairway to Heaven didn't make it into the top 300 (or there abouts). They also kept saying you won't believe what is no. 1! Now I understand. It has been extremely over played on Virgin and must have been on people's minds when they voted. It wouldn't even figure in my top 1000. Not a bad song, but just that nothing special.
I like Snow Patrol but that is a joke. It has to have been the most played song on every Irish Radio station last year though. These countdowns irritate me as all these new entries will be forgotten about in a couple of years. Its good to see Robbies Angels slipping though
