I've just seen an item about Bob on BBC News. He is launching a TV channel aimed at achieving world peace. It should be out in 2008. There wasn't too much more about it. I wonder what it is... any info?
but I am going to do something about it. I wrote Ford, cars that I have purchased since 1980's, and told them if they want my business, they had better come up with an Escape Hybride that gets 40 - 50 miles on the road! Right now I have a 1997 Ford Explorer. When I retire early, in two years, I want to get a hybride.
I did see the film/documentary by Al Gore on global warming. I am doing all of the things to help out with exception of using those light bulbs. They are actually bad for your eyes.
I don´t think that bulbs are bad for the eyes. Do they? The hybrids are precious but too expensive for current people. The Hydrogen is sure, clean, solencious. I have seen a motorcycle of hydrogen, they have a sitem ofor artifical noisy. Can you imagine drive a motorcycle without any noise? IN any case the big problem are the industry, citizens must be first conciencious, but his pollutions is very poor compairing with industrial wastes. I think the all that big problems in world not can go on in politiquers hands. When citizens are really conciencious of the problem, and responsibles of them, then things will beguin to change.
The US government is a particularly bad offender. Despite all they claim to be doing for Africa the product of their lack of respect for the climate seems to wipe it all out, as Africa is surely affected by it.
The low energy light bulbs are huge and our light fittings tiny, they'd look like a phallic symbol if we put them in our living room.
But, yes flouresent bulbs are hard on the eyes from what I have read. An office I worked in had them all taken out and replaced with soft light bulbs...
It seems, USA are intersted in commerce with Brasil about etanol. Mexico citizens are worried about bacuase this new energie is provided by corn, and in brasil by plants of sugar. Usa wants to make a mixture of oil and etanol. Why not? future is arriving, slow but arriving. Can you imaging a big city with hidrogen cars, i men, a big city without the noisy of cars? Geldof is in the berlinale, i saw him in tv. He looks very well.
I've got a mixture of low energy and high energy bulbs about the house and there's nothing left on stand-by any more. Also we're recycling everything we can. I wonder if you could buy the fuel for one of those hybrid cars in Northern Ireland? Maybe if I just make sure our next car has a smaller engine.......? Or encourage the family to cycle more?
Alas, my garden is too small for a wind turbine, but a few solar panels on the roof would be cool to have.
Al Gore's movie was great. (Bob should show it on his new channel for sure.) About 30 minutes into the film my 12 year old son turned to me and said increduously "........and the Americans voted for George Bush over this guy.......?"
What other programmes would they put on the new channel I wonder?
I think the environmental stuff, with its strong global bent, definitely has a place.
I really thought Al Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth" was excellent. I think everyone can learn a few things from it.
It is good to find different ways to recycle, reuse and renew. I had heard that there are some people trying to eliminate buying anything but groceries (and new underwear) for the year of 2007. I was trying to find the website describing this, but can't locate it right now. I know the radio announcers were even going to challenge themselves (and their listeners) into doing this for one month.
