I have been making plans to go this year's Hay festival with a friend (she loves english literature, I love Bob, we both love Britain and festivals). But unfortunately, there seems to be no accomodation left in the area ... There are campsites, but we've decided we are a bit too old for that
Do any of you have any suggestions or recommendations? If we stay for example in Hereford, can we get to the festival (and back) without a car? Or should we just give up for this year, and already book a room for next year? I would like to hear all your tips & tricks!
You could park it in a campground but it would have all of the amenities of a hotel or bed and breakfast...plus you would have complete privacy...or lack of depending upon where you chose to park it...and you'd have a comfortable trip to the hay festival...which sounds intriguing...
Well yes, I'm actually going! We managed to find really nice accomodation very near the festival site, allthough a bit expensive. We'll be arriving on Saturday and leave on Thursday. Now let's just hope for nice weather, and I'm sure we'll have a good time! Too bad you can't make it Jules. Is anyone else from the forum going? I'd love to meet any of you in the flesh!
What a prudent business idea for someone to rent or lease a bunch of RV's and some festival ground and travel from festival to festival...providing would-be attendies somewhere safe and comfortable to stay during the festival...(bathroom accomodations alone...those that are your own...would be reason enough to rent an RV on site...)...
People love festivals...the main thing that seems to impede their attending is accomodations...
We attended a Chilliwack concert in Mattawa, Northern Ontario, Canada a couple of summers ago...we had to stay about a half an hour away in North Bay and drive there after the concert...(Bob looks a fair bit like Bill Henderson...who agrees?)
Making the world an easier place to have fun... I remain, Linda Loder
....wondering if Bob looks anything like Jann Arden or if Pete looks exactly like her bass player...she's onstage at Scotiabank Place tonight....apparently....my husband asked the obvious question...'are you sure...she'd never fill the Scotia Centre'...true...true...someone should look into that...
By the by...some Hay Festival Info...a "what it is" page... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hay_Festival ...well-read men are the hottest after all... ...not unlike an outdoor library...imagine how quickly you can catch up on all of the books you've missed at something like this and spend time chatting to other people who like to read at the same time...
Question...There will be hay there, though, right?
