I just saw that Bob Geldof is in Berlin today alongside the other members of the newly founded Africa Progress Panel.
'When One Promises, One Has To Deliver'
Updated: 15:47, Tuesday April 24, 2007
World leaders are coming together in Berlin today to discuss progress in helping Africa. The Africa Progress Panel is monitoring how successful rich countries have been in meeting their commitments to the continent.
Kofi Annan speaks to Sky
Tony Blair, who is attending the meeting, made alleviating African poverty a key goal during Britain's 2005 presidency of the Group of Eight industrialised nations.
Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel, who will also be present, has pledged that it will play a major role at this June's German-hosted G8 summit
The panel is chaired by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, while anti-poverty campaigner Bob Geldof is a member of it.
Speaking to Sky News, Mr Annan said: "There has been some progress, there has been debt relief in about 18 countries.
"Two years ago there was an increase in development assistance. They need that support to be sustained.

"When one promises one has to deliver and we are here to ensure that."
There has been talk that Tony Blair could join the panel when he steps down as Prime Minister, and Mr Annan said that such a move was possible.
"A sitting Prime Minister is not independent of his government but once he is out of office that is a possibility," he said
"I would love to see him on the panel."
Mr Geldof told Sky News that the panel was a serious organisation which was needed to ensure that world powers were doing what they promised to do.
He said: "There has been a huge amount of progress but they haven't lived up to what they swore they would do.
"I'm not prepared to see it slacken off. They're going to do this and that's the end of it.."
