Anyone need a bit of nip n'tuck? Or their ples seeing to? Just ask our man.

Bob Geldof is to be honoured by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).

The campaigner, musician and businessman will receive an honorary fellowship at a RCSI function on May 24.

Geldof was awarded the honour, RCSI says, for his humanitarian efforts in tackling world poverty.

The former Boomtown Rat will also give a lecture on leadership at the May 24 event.

Bob Geldof has been honoured by the RCSI

Geldof was instigator of the original Live Aid concerts for Africa in 1985, and co-organised the Make Poverty History campaign of 2005. He has also been a successful businessman in music and television.

He is from Blackrock in Co Dublin.

In 2005 Time magazine included him in a roll-call of 'European heroes'. The president of the RCSI, Gerald O'Sullivan, paid tribute to Geldof's courage and determination. "By bestowing on him our highest award of Honorary Fellowship, we are recognising his dedication to eradicating debt and hunger in the developing world, aims which RCSI shares."
