I can't believe I missed it!!!!! It was on @ 7.30 on BBC4 on Thursday, sodding Telegraph TV guide only starts @ 8pm. I have been checking those schedules constantly for months. pah!
The gig was Rock goes to College which I think I've seen before. Didn't make me feel any better when I only discovered it was on just as it finished.
I heard the Someone's Looking at You clip! Couldn't believe my ears. Two Rat things in one night on the BBC at peak viewing - not bad, I'd say, not bad at all.
Having got to see this again last night after 33 years, it is simply brilliant! This is the pre-fame Rats with Geldof fully engaged with the audience, who are not as enthused as they should be, bl00dy students!
There was a cut from the original broadcast when Geldof came to the camera and told viewers to turn up the sound up or else the next song (Living In An Island) will sound really sh!tty.
The one thing that does strike you is how pi$$-poor the Rats dress sense was. OK Fingers wore pyjamas which was his thing, but of the others only Pete Briquette looked cool. Garrick Roberts leopard skin leggings and hawaiian shirt are a total fashion disaster. And how Gerry Cott doesn't have terminal lung cancer is a miracle. He must have had three fags in the 40 minute broadcast.
