He went off stage on Wednesday suffering from exhaustion. I've got tickets for tonight in Birmingham. They're still hoping he'll play. So do I, so wishing him well. His doctor said he'd be OK after staying in bed yesterday.
I've got to phone the NEC later this morning to find out what's going on
Well it seems to be going ahead right now. Not yet been cancelled, so we are heading off to Birmingham in the next hour or so. Getting prepared for a night out in Birmingham, just in case.
Hopefully Meatloaf is having a good rest today and will be feeling full of beans later on!
It took us 4 hours to get from Oxford to Birmingham in the busy Friday afternoon traffic, with a number of accidents along the A34. We went to look for something to eat and were turned away from the restaurant as the people who went in just before us were the last they were serving for another 30 minutes or so as it was full. So we walked back into the main forum area and found some very expensive sandwiches and salads. Each ordered something and sat down. Having finished that we were discussing what drinks to order and we heard someone shouting. It was now 6 pm and lots of people were arriving. The gig was off and being rescheduled until 29 Nov. At first I thought it was the weekend I'm away, but realised it is a Thursday. Rather inconvenient in terms of me taking time off work and losing money, however, I decided I'd be too disappointed not to go back.
We decided to head back home and get a drink in the local pub, as we'd driven there. On the way out we spoke to the people who had parked next to us. He asked me if I knew a good night out in Birmingham, as he'd travelled there from Cornwall and might as well seeing as it was such a long journey and they'd already got a babysitter. Then we saw a limo leaving the venue and we wondered whether it was Meatloaf inside. He didn't stop for a wave and a chat if it was.
Another successful gig. Why couldn't they have made this decision earlier in the day to stop people travelling from long distances? I understand Meatloaf wasn't well enough to perform and wouldn't want to sit and watch him suffer and I also understand that he really wanted to get on stage and held out until the last. But it's unfair to let people travel, book hotels, reorganise their lives etc when there might be a good chance that it's going to get cancelled. Still I hope he's having a good rest and is feeling better soon.

My advice, for what it is worth (not much), is don't go and see old aging rockers. They can't hack it. I'm sticking by my decision to no longer go to concerts. They're too old, I'm too old, so let's just get out our old records out and bounce around on our Zimmer frames
That said, I'm getting into dangerous territory where my son will probably want to go to gigs in the not too distant future. Do I accompany him or just drop him off. Given he likes the Killers, Razorlight and Kaiser Chiefs (yes, I have unduly influenced him), I WANNA GO! (but can i?)
Poor guy has a cyst on his vocal chords. That can be quite dangerous and he was risking losing his voice for good. Hope he gets it sorted out and comes back.
