Geldof contributes to book in aid of hospice care
I think this is a brilliant idea. From the Independent newspaper Ireland

"We all have a story to tell, and while some of us get to share bits of it with the nation every Sunday, most people don't have that luxury. Actually, given that we are all leading increasingly hectic, stressed-out, demanding and complicated lives, many people don't even have the time or opportunity to talk properly to those they care for most.

That's why I was interested to come across a new book called LifeStory, edited by columnist John Waters, and recently launched by the Irish Hospice Foundation. Most of the book is blank, and if that sounds weird, the idea behind the book is to enable each person to begin the process of compiling and writing their own life story.

"Could anything be more marvellous?" says best-selling author Maeve Binchy, who provides the introduction to the book.

"This is the one chance where we are positively encouraged to be centre-stage. Nobody is going to ask us to tone it down, to be less self-centred, or to make more room for others," she says.

The beginning of each section of the book is illustrated by passages and memories from various Irish personalities such as Gay Byrne, Nell McCafferty, Micheal O Muircheartaigh, Bob Geldof and Christina Noble. A number of suggested questions are then set to help guide you through what you might like to write about, and the rest of the chapter lies blank, in anticipation of being filled up with your memories, reminiscences and anecdotes. "
