I started the day with a letter of mine in a newspaper about social delinquents, and the latest half-arsed government measure to combat it ("Ban Buckfast"...jeez, grow up!), before going into Glasgow to hand in the paper work & accept the job offer that came in the post last Friday.
Then it was going to the HMV store. The DVD in stock, but not the back albums. Only the reissued "Best of" with a new cover. Same story with the Virgin Megastore next door.
Then came Virgin at the top of Buchanan Street, and the eerie cover of the first album with a ghostly Bob clawing up the staircase caught my eye. For a second, it seemed too good to be true.
"The Fine Art Of Surfacing" & all the rest, stocked in the Glasgow shops, on CD
Along with all the promo videos, on DVD.
I've waited two decades for this.
What a sad twat I am!
Most of them sold out already & having to repeat order 'cos they didn't get enough in - particularly - strangely - V Deep. HMV in Sauchiehall Street said they'd been cleaned out of all but one lonely copy of Surfacing & the new version of Tonic for The Troops
The world can destroy itself all over again for the rest of today, and for one day I won't care about it. Tonight, it's me & the Boomtown Rats back catologue.
It's a wonderful world!

Glad to see they sold out! Must admit I was surprised they only had four of the albums in HMV Covent Garden, but maybe, someone did buy the other two!
Cetainly looking at the sales rankings on amazon, they seem to be fairly popular. Surfacing is in the top 100!!!!!
