Is it just my cd, or does the very start of 'I Can Make It If You Can' on The Boomtown Rats cd sound a bit wonky? It's like i was playing the LP version and i just jogged the sterio!

I hear this defect as well - *extremely* off-putting. Bad master tape? How much "over-seeing" actually took place on this then? I think Mercury should fix it and offer to replace the defective CDs.

I didn't notice, but will listen to it again to see.  I have mostly listened to them on my MP3 player (no time to sit and listen to CDs).

I think the annoying glitch has gone off the end of Diamond Smiles, but tubes are noisy, and you can miss the nuances.

Still can't get over the fact they are all faster than the LPs!  My turntable has probably seen better days, but I did put a new belt on recently, and it's the first time I have noticed a discernable difference.

Should compare a few more CDs to vinyl, before I blame the remastering!

Can anyone confirm whether any of the "Best Of" albums have a non-wonky version?

best of version is a live version.  not wonky, but not what you want.

Yes, it's wonky master tape syndrome.

Also, "Joey's On The Street Again" is faster than on the vinyl, which I liked for a change, but think I'll stick to my copy of "I Can Make It If You Can" taken from the vinyl.

Well this just stinks . Does it really take away from the overall enjoyment of the song?
