The videos they have for "Looking After Number One" and "Someone's Looking At You" are not the actual promo videos from the time.
The first one is taken from the old "Tonic For The Troops" live video, whilst the second is taken from video footage of the "Surfacing" Tour (It looks suspiciously like the "Surfacing Down Under" clip that later appeared in BBCs "Swap Shop" at one stage), and not the famous one of a Brylcreamed down Bob viewing monitor screens, inbetween shots of the Rats playing (all dressed as American GIs, except for Fingers dressed as a Viet Cong Spy!) and shots of a white noughts & crosses game on a black background in progress.
This video was shown on "Swap Shop" for the BBC. Swap Shop also did "live" performances of "Nothing Happened Today" & "When The Night Comes" (well, live MIME! ).
One other piece of footage it would have been nice to see was "Keep It Up" being done on the Kenny Everett Video Show (with Gerry Cott "playing" an outsized acoustic guitar!)
And hands up all those who had a lump in their throat at the Self Aid clip when Bob says "It's been a great ten years...Rest In Peace."

I don't think the one with the Rats as GIs was an official promo. As I remember they did that for the Kenny Everett show. And I haven't seen it seen nor anywhere else.
However, it was far better than any official promo!

No, that was definitely the promo - it appeared on "Swap Shop", "Tiswas" & once on "Top Of The Pops" (the TOTP appearence clashed with a string of gigs in Europe - they did appear to mime "live" later though), and was spoken about in an interview with Billy Sloan of the Daily Record.
The story of the Boomtown Rats doing "Keep It Up" for the Kenny Everett Video Show was that Kenny thought the double entendre sounding name was more appropriate for his programme!
It would be good if these old clips could be hunted down. As there is a very active old Tiswas tapes fanbase on the go, there's every chance it may be unearthed later.

Of course, with the passage of time, these clips have since surfaced on You Tube.
So, the official promo is as per the dvd, the brylcream Bob video was specially made for the BBC (definitely shown on TOTP and also possibly Swap Shop) and the Hotel Continental video was specially made for the Kenny Everett show?
With Rat Trap being made for the Kenny Everett show and even the non-single Keep it Up, this seems quite a commitment and compliment to the Rats by ITV, even allowing for their then high popularity level and the then emerging video situation.

Mark 100% behind you on this one. Have to say I do think the two video's made for TOTP and the K Everett are 100 times better than the one put on the Someone's looking at you DVD
It would have been nice to have the official "Up all night" video (Bob with a snake) and the Up all Night performance on 3 of a kind.
Plus, why did the Rats not do videos for House on Fire ( a proper effort) and Charmed Lives (ok it was cr@p, but even cr@p records have videos)
The reason behind that was they were in shock at the song getting into the top 40. And as they where in the far east at the time they had done some video clips along the way which they turned into the house on fire video. Regarding Charmed lives agree with you even if this was not a good single should still have bee a video with it. Same as when Go man go came out as a single in Ireland no vid eo, might of had to do with money at the time as there was not much around for them at that time and the record companys would not support them.
