Golden Rose Charity Award

From BBC news:

Singer Bob Geldof and the creators of Monty Python are to be honoured at the 50th Golden Rose television festival in Lucerne, Switzerland in May.
Geldof will receive the Golden Rose Charity Award, which is being presented in remembrance of Sir Peter Ustinov.

The actor and racconteur was due to receive the honour last year, but died two months before the festival.

The Monty Python team, including John Cleese and Terry Jones, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Geldof will receive the award in honour of his humanitarian work. "Having previously won the Golden Rose for television, it's nice, but weird, to win the award for politics," he said.

Breakthrough year

"I am particularly pleased to accept it this year because 2005 has the potential for being a breakthrough year for Africa, and this award helps to highlight the singular condition of unnecessary, abject poverty that most Africans endure."

Geldof will be presented with the award by Harry Belafonte, a Unicef goodwill ambassador, on 7 May.
