In The Long Grass - One of my Favorites

I have heard so many people talk about how the quality of Rats music had fallen by the time they split , but I think this album stacks up with the best . I think the music is great , lyrics interesting, and  the melodies are some of Geldofs best . I rate this just behind "Surfacing" as my favorites .

I agree, it is hard to put them in order of favourites but this one is up there. It is excellent.

I also agree this is probably my favorite album of theirs from what I've heard so far. My fav songs here include Dave, Over and Over, Tonight, and Precious Time (from remastered CD).

yeah, it's a kinda neat video. I like it :) Bob looks/sounds good and I'm always amused when he dances

speaking of videos. what the heck is up with the video of Drag me Down?? My sis and I watched it and it seemed kinda gay lol, and I don't mean happy either. just a bunch of buff, sweaty coal miners (or whatever) hanging out, bein all buddy-buddy, watching other men dance, etc. maybe it's just my American-ness coming out but, does anyone else see that kind of undertone? It just looked like a stereotypically 'gay' video. but it's probably just me. (not that I have a problem with it lol)

also, does it have anything to do with the lyrics?? not that my sis and I saw...

I remember the BTR UK tour in 1983. I saw them at the Top Rank Suite in Brighton. Bob Geldof said that they had written 40 odd songs and wanted to use the tour to gauge interest. The best would go on the new album, which turned out to be In the LOng Grass.

It was a storming gig. People were beckoned on stage. I got on and danced with Pete Briquette.
