I've been thinking about a project involving the fans... I got the idea from Rita, who is also a Meatloaf fan. Not sure who organized this, but the fans got together and sent pictures of themselves, and they took all those pictures to make a mosaic of Meatloaf.


I thought we could do something similar, so I got the ball rolling. I gathered as many Geldof related pictures as I could, found a great program, and tried my hand at a few mosaics. To better see all the small pictures, click on the picture, then click on "View Original".


So I was thinking you guys could send me pictures of you (with Bob if you have some), we'll chose a master picture, and I'll make a mosaic that includes all our pictures. I've gathered my favorite pictures here as choices for a master, but if you have a better idea, let me know! The pictures doesn't have to be one of Bob, but should represent him in some way.


Note that I've roamed the entire Internet to find all the pictures for my mosaic bank, so if you have a website with pictures of Geldof or the Rats, I likely borrowed them. I've left all the tags, unless it was right across Bob's face If you see one of your pics in my mosaics but don't want them there, send me a private message. All pictures are copyrighted to their respective owners. Final product is for personal use only and will not be sold.

It says you need to sign in for the mosaic thingy MJ.

I've got 2 photos of me with Bob and probably have some of him alone, where shall I send them to? Great idea.

yeah I think that's a neat idea MJ I'll try to find some of me and Bob (separate...unfortunately I have none of us together, I've never met him), just tell us all where :)

Apart from that, I'll see what I can send you MJ. I think your project is a brilliant idea. Very creative, and very community-ish! And I'm sure Bob would like it!

The more pictures the better. The program I use will pick the best fit to create the mosaic, so the more pictures you have in the bank, the more accurate the end picture will look.

Is it ok to send just pix I like of BG, even though none of them are 'rightfully' mine? (ie pix collected from the internet)

also, are BTR pix with BG allowed, or just BG by himself (and/or with fans)?

Well, that could be a v. simple question, or a v. complicated one. If you mean do *I* want you to send your favorite pictures, yeah, sure.


If you mean is it legally ok to use them, well... no. Every picture is automatically copyrighted to their owner, and I should get permission for each of them before using them, or even buy them when those pictures are offered for sale. Even screen capture from movies or commercially sold live shows are illegal unless autorized. Problem is, I'm using over 2000 different pictures or screen caps for this project. If I have to get permission for each, forget it. Project is canned.


The reality is, this practice is tolerated as long as you're not making any money out of it. As for the non-commercial pictures found on fan sites, as I said before, if you don't want me to use them, just let me know.

Anything BG related would be great. I don't have many pictures from the Rats era, so it's more likely I don't have them yet.

This is a great idea!  I have one or two from the Winnipeg concert in 2003.  I also have the one newspaper pic with the Rats "daks" down for the camera!  Great picture.

Thanks to the few who have sent me their pictures. However, response have been even more abysmal than I expected, so I don't think I'll go to the trouble of having a poster printed for Bob. I'll give it another few weeks, and I'll send you guy who have participated one or 2 mosaics with your picture in it. The good news is I might even do one of each of your favorite.

One clarification, following a private message I just got. What I would like to have are photos of FANS, not photos of Bob. I got thousands of Bob photos, I don't need more, really. Although more is always good, but I disgress.


The plan is to create a mosaic with pictures of fans. In a perfect world, I would have enough fan pictures to create the mosaic, but since I only have a few, I'll use Bob and BTR pics to complete it. Am I making any sense? Anyways, please send me pictures of yourself if you want to be part of this project. Thanks!
