I've got a well read (over and over) paperback copy and have often thought of getting a hard back copy to keep. Excellent idea. Excellent book. Did I note somewhere that it was on the reading list for English Lit at Cambridge Uni?
When I was about 14 we had to study a chapter of 'Is That It?' you know when he describes how watching the news report on Ethiopia made him feel...looking back on it, our English teacher was proper lovin' it, maybe she had a soft spot for Bob? Yeah, I could see that happening..
your teacher made you read a chapter from Is that it? ? that's great... my englishteacher says he admires Bob, but don't think he knows there's a book...
I bought it on an auctionsite almost two months ago, but they seller hasn't send it to me yet, he also isn't very keen on giving any explanation...:-/ oh well...
how come everybody seems to know about these books and films but me??? im a crazy bob fan and im just finding out about this stuff now!!! how do u get it? (apart from ebay, wont be allowed )

Age! I have been buying this stuff since I was 14.....
Found a little treasure today. Having said on an earlier thread I;d like anothe rcopy of Is That It? I walked into Oxfam bookshop and spotted a hardback copy in pretty good condition. Couldn't resist...
good idea getting a hard back aswell as the paper back. I have the paper back version, Bob signed it for me years ago. Must keep my eye out for a hard back version, dont want my book getting any more dog eared than it already is.
I know this was released quite a while ago and I have only got round to reading it because being a teenager it is hard to sit down and read without being disturbed by other things but I have promised myself that I will read it all
It'd be nice if he added a little to 'Is That It?'..because, in answer to his question, no it isn't! So much has happened in the two decades since it was released...I mean, I don't know, it's up to Bob if he wants to share it with the world but he's such an interesting man - I'd enjoy reading his thoughts and opinions on what's been going on.
nah, not looking stupid....your birthdaylist...don't you do that normally for your birthday? not online or anything, just a list you make before your birthday so your loved ones knows what you want to get..
Ask for them to give money and then you can order it from Amazon. You can get it in Borders or bookshops but it is around £16 or £18. Your family don't know know what they are missing
Now Johanna, it's my 40th in a month or so what an excellent idea for a birthday gift
I finally got my book here is that it. Lots of reading to do for me. great! I've been wanting this book for so long now and well finally got it. Very nice photo's inside to of Bob. Hey, if you dont have this book do yourself a favour and get it!
I still remember how I got my paperback copy of this book. I had won a prize from a radio station and they said I could pick anything off of these two shelves.
When I saw they had a couple of copies of Bob's book, I couldn't believe my luck. [I had just started getting into the Boomtown Rats a couple of years before that---due to a friend loaning me a couple of tapes. After I returned his tapes to him, I ordered my own cassettes of 3 of their albums. I'm also fairly certain that the radio announcers at the station probably didn't know who Bob was; I was in North Dakota at the time.]
I think I've read it at least 5 times over the years. Bob is a great storyteller and you can really picture what life was like then.

I was walking past a row of charity shops in Edinburgh a couple of months ago, then something made me go back to the Oxfam one. I went in without knowing why really and there on the first shelf I looked at was a copy of Is That It. Very interesting read, very honest and you begin to understand why Bob is the way he is now. A very intelligent and forthright author.
