I didn't buy this, but is it the same book as the one by Peter Stone on Amazon (65!), it just says the Boomtown Rats. I think I've seen Having Their Picture Taken on ebay, but not recently. There is another book on Amazon.co.uk - the best of Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats. Are any of these worth buying? If you've got it tell us what's in it/them.
For some reason I can't see those pictures (computer does this occasionally to me).
It is surprising I didn't pick the book up in 1980 - but then on a 48p an hour Saturday job it would have been a lot of money even then!! A whole days wages! I won't be shelling out 0565 that's for certain.
A pity I can't see Bob walking round the pool with shorts and teeshirt, maybe my computer will be kind to me later
What did the bad bit of writing say about the Rats?

No worries, Jules. There is no such photo posted. Perhaps you need to buy the book to see that?
yeah I'm in the middle of bidding on that exact book you listed, MJ!...I found it yesterday midday and plunked my bid down (I'm 'ffwalnut'). so far I'm 'winning' but we'll see how long that lasts
no matter how poor the writing/captions are, I can't get enough pix of BG...and he was so good-looking in the BTR days (and obviously still is ). I don't throw the term 'cute' around loosely at all - it takes a certain type of look in order for me to deem one so - but BG makes the cut lol.
anyway, enough gushing.
Jules, I think what ArrGee meant was just that the writing (such as the pool caption example he used) is not very telling, as in, anyone (BTR fan or not) could look at that pic and say the same thing the author's saying. so it was 'bad' as in, lame/poorly written, not negative. (but maybe that's not even what you were asking lol)
crossing my fingers that I'll win, but obviously you all are free to bid too, no hard feelings

Well that's good to know. I'll try not to bid on the same auctions as you if possible. No sense to raise prices for each other!
I won mine this morning. The seller had not put the title of the book in the auction title, so it was harder to find. I won it with just one bid of 1.49!
Well I;ve now ordered this from Amazon, having been outbid for it on ebay and remembering I had a £5 gift voucher. It is only costing me 75p plus p&p, which is about £2. So I'll be able to comment further once received :0)
I'd say it's worth having as long as you don't pay too much for it! I picked it up at a used bookstore a couple years ago. Quite a surprise to find, as never knew it existed.
I've now got my copy - arrived yesterday. It is like a photo album with comments at the bottom of each photo. Definitely worth having for a few pounds, nothing more.
