From Yahoo.co.uk news: Geldof to publish Africa travels book
Tue Mar 29, 2005 02:45 PM BST Printer Friendly | Email Article | RSS LONDON (Reuters) - Irish rocker turned activist Bob Geldof will publish a book on his travels in Africa, publisher Random House said. "Geldof in Africa" will come out in June and will accompany the BBC series of the same name. "Africa has the lot -- vast seas of sand, tropical jungles, equatorial rainforest," Geldof said in a statement. "And within this immense continent more peoples, more languages, more cultures, more animals than anywhere else on our world. It is quite simply the most extraordinary, beautiful and luminous place on our planet." As part of the book deal, an updated edition of Geldof's 1986 autobiography "Is That It?" will also come out in the autumn. Geldof is part of Prime Minister Tony Blair's Commission for Africa, which recently published an ambitious Africa recovery plan. >>>
What do they mean by an 'updated' edition of Is That It?
My guess it that since "Is That It?" ends with Live Aid, and the book release is timed to coincide with the documentary, I'd expect an epilogue regarding the changes (or lack thereof) in Africa. And whatever else (if anything) BG cares to write.
He stated he will never update his autobiography because it would hurt too many people. Anything Bob writes is emotional and straight from the heart. It would be very hard for him to write about all that happened to him. I suppose he is thinking of the girls, Paula's mum etc. I think it is best left unsaid. He has moved on now.
Maybe a new album & a book about all his songs. That would be interesting. I mean we all know the stories behind Mondays and a few others but the rest.. I personally would love something like that
