that's awesome that you think Curry's the best solo artist. I've heard some of his stuff, it's pretty good

This is pretty damn good! Odeyo (part 1) - see the band: Stukas Boys. But I don't think I could ever pick a best one, either band or song.

Notice the fast bell-like guitar and catchy bass runs in "Odeyo" and the Stukas two guitarists compliment each other, plus the vocal harmonies make it sound like one voice. STUKAS ROOL! You guys are lucky to have the opportunity to see this clip. I'll bet Sir Bob would dig it too. My favorite living guitarists (besides 8 or so Conglolese guitarists) are Gary Moore from Thin Lizzy and Chris Spedding who played a lot of sessions including Sex Pistols, plus I liked the Ramones a lot and of course Boomtown Rats "Looking After Number One".

Like you I think my song would/will change, but on balance I'd probably go with Down In the Tube Station.

Solo artist, your turn to be staggered, Robbie Williams...but that took some thinking as it's occurred to me (only took 50 years) I really do favour bands. Only Morrissey might compete, but I'll take the showman over the no-show man.

Band? Hmmm....assuming not Rats then a wafer between Jam/Pogues/Carter/Clash/Madness, but would have to say the Jam...for now

Unusual for me to like a popular Rawk song, but I suppose seeing them live last night affected my decision somewhat. I have got into The Who a bit in recent months, Baba O Reilly and Love Reign Over Me are real epics. In the top ten in this list, so I can't be the only one.

I am sadly predictable generally only liking music from Britain and North East America (mainly NYC) from 1964 - present. Excluding Bon Jovi though. And err, Robbie Williams.

And as usual changed my mind again regarding C.

Rats #1 easy...but Jam if we're excluding the obvious. although did note you put Pulp ahead. Fair play.

That said, they're personal. I'd concede Beatles as best ever band, and possibly not to be surpassed.

Funnily enough Tube Station narrowly defeated Creep by Radiohead, a track I never tire of.

Wouldn't be the best for me, though I acknowledge they were the first. Rubber Soul and Abbey Road are mostly superb as are a number of other tracks, but they aren't a band I would choose to listen to above many others. I find the nursery rhymes, vaudeville, pseudo psychedelia and Ringo singing a bit off putting on a lot of their albums. The White Album is a bit of a trial.

A) The Pogues
B) Amanda Palmer
C) The Who - I've Had Enough, or possibly Love Reign O'er Me, hard to have one without the other (always used to say Sultans of Swing but overplayed it for a while)

Tube Stations a cracker I'd forgotten about, though admit I've got quite a soft spot for the Bad Shepherds version

Haha thats something I'm quite used to, in fact I'm always surprised there are so many people at their concerts! Hardly anyone I know likes them

I wouldn't say they are pants, they have made some half decent records, just nothing special for me. But Robbie Williams, now he is pants. In the same league as Phil Collins. Romford Sunday Pub division 9.

There is no reason to exclude the Rats. Had I done this in 1979, it would have been A. Rats B. Bowie C. Rat Trap Would have been the same all the way through the 1980s.

My favorite song also changes frequently. Too difficult to rate the best song as they are all perfect in their own ways.
