The Glastonbury alternative....

Saturday 27th June 2009 PARTY ON THE FARM - Edolphs Farm, Charlwood. Surrey RH6 0EB http://www.theratsatedolphs.co.uk £20

Such a shame, I'm off to Kuwait.   Saves me a decision with Ray Davies playing
Kenwood House in Hamptead the same night.  Still with a bit of luck I should be able to record Jarvis and Franz Ferdinand at Glastonbury on my V+ box.

And one more time in 2012?

Looks promising if RAM site anything to go by. Animals and Blockheads have same date (8th) in the diary. Should be a good one.

From The Jam as well.  Could be a good day out.

The promoter called me last week to let me know about the gig and that the other bands include From The Jam, The Blockheads, Animals, Spencer Davis Group, x-Simple Minds.

Hopefully BTR will confirm but was chatting to organiser earlier and line-up is shifting to be more 70s new wave era oriented. Current contenders are Buzz****s, Beat, Bad Manners, Blockheads, From the Jam, Eddie & Hot Rods and, with good reason smile, Boomtown Rats headlining.

If this one comes off as outlined I reckon if you only ever see the Rats once this has to be the one to go for. What a day in prospect!

Think the finalisation of details means line up ang gig being properly published and publicised early August.

Not what I meant - was more that organiser is a Rats fan so they'd be top of the bill even if Coldplay, U2 and Springsteen were there same day.

Nice idea though....

Only once have I been to an outdoor gig with no rain (and mud).   Looking at the IoW this weekend, mud glorious mud is definitely on the agenda.  Bring yer Wellies!

I've been lucky (so far) and largely escaped bad weather. At Penn festival last year there were a couple of downpours but soon cleared up - and wearing raincoats made it easier to smuggle some bottles in Again at Reepham a few years back, it wasn't a promising start standing in the drizzle at 11 am (in a "crowd" of about 10 people) but developed into a lovely sunny day and by the time the Rats were on, a much larger crowd! OK, not thousands, but certainly hundreds - and all looking very happy.

Just out of interest did the 2009 gig go ahead, and if so,did any one from here go?

Shame it's not happening - just as the weather improves again ...
