The Guardian Hay Festival is delighted to announce that Sting will appear in an exclusive one-to-one interview at this year's festival on Saturday 4th June, to speak about his highly acclaimed memoir 'Broken Music'. He will then be holding a book signing session.
In the same venue, The Copella Marquee 90 minutes later, Bob Geldof marks the 20th anniversary of Live Aid talking about the Africa Commission, the G8, and launches his book Geldof in Africa.
Also, in a unique event, some of the stars of the 2005 Hay Festival (including Bob Geldof, Sting, Jane Fonda, Joseph Fiennes, Arnold Wesker and Fergal Keane) have agreed to take part in a performance in support of the work of Human Rights Watch. Writers, actors, journalists and musicians will gather at the Festival's main tent for a programme of readings of poetry that inform and inspire the work that Human Rights Watch does around the world, exposing perpetrators of human rights abuses and fighting for them to be brought to justice.
Details of appearances are as follows;
