I reckon Mondays and Rat Trap are a given as the two most famed Rats tracks, but what next?  Spotify has Banana Republic, but I don't know.  Do They Know It's Christmas? doesn't count nor does The Great Song of Indifference.  You decide.....

Some options to vote for, but feel free to suggest others but it's more about the tracks being well known rather than the ones you like.

I'd have thought Banana Republic.  Although it is hard for me to step out of fan mode and disassociate myself.  I've played everything so much, their songs are more familiar to me than the national anthem or the Beatles!

I added Up All Night as it has a couple of claims to fame.....

* The Boomtown Rats song "Up All Night" opens the final segment of The Jim Rome Show, when Jim Rome announces the 'Huge Call of the Day'.

* The Boomtown Rats, and the song "Up All Night", are referenced in the song, "Don't Push", recorded by the band Sublime on their album, 40 Oz. to Freedom. A line in the song states "If I was a Boomtown Rat I would be stayin' up all night".

As a non rats fan, my forst thought is one that is not there, Diamond Smiles. I remember Bob saying that when he asks for requests at his concert, that is the song most often asked for and he has sung it on Parky, etc.

And Razorlight named their album after it...

I rarely ever hear Banana Republic anywhere.  The new Rats don't play it and I don't think Geldof plays it live.   I do from time to time hear She's So Modern, Mary & Number One, and even Joey's on the Street Again

Google gave this which suggests Do The Rat is pretty popular....

12,200 for "Like Clockwork" Boomtown rats.
17,800 for "She's So Modern" Boomtown rats.
17,300 for "Banana republic" Boomtown rats
6,720 for "Someone's Looking" Boomtown rats
18,900 for "Joey's on the Street Again" Boomtown rats.
77,200 for "I Don't Like Mondays" Boomtown rats.
40,100 for "Rat Trap" Boomtown rats.
7,700 for "Diamond Smiles" Boomtown rats
14,800 for "Mary of the fourth Form" Boomtown rats.
7,850 for "Up All Night" Boomtown rats
24,500 for "Do The Rat" Boomtown rats

biggrin Love those comparisons Jules.

I instantly thought Banana Republic when I read the topic title.

I'd say it's a toss up between Banana Republic and She's so Modern.
