I do hope that Status Quo do open the Live 8 gig. I hope that we will see more than music artists performing songs. It would be nice to see some of the black communitys getting involved.

I understand that The Spice Girls may reform for the gig. I hope that they will not use this as a platform to get them back together, as this will be unjust on what the whole thing is about.

Mark, I see you mention Status Quo. It's not exactly the same kind of music, but much music from Congo (Democratic Republic of Congo) has 3 lead guitarists. In fact, the first African band I saw, Soukous Stars, had 3 guitarists and I did indeed think of Status Quo the moment they started playing this wild climax, which is a Congolese guitar style called a "sebene". African music is not only drumming. There are some interesting guitar sounds. There's a bottlneck blues sound to this Nigerian guy King Sunny Ade. There's a guitarist from Mali named Habib Koite who has kind of a blues-rock sound. There are so many great ones currently, Dally Kimoko, Nene Tchakou, Burkina Faso (a person's nickname as well as a country), Huit Kilos. I wish some of them would be playing at these shows or could jam with Status Quo!
