Bob has just announced that he and the band will not be performing at the Hyde Park Live8 event. But will be at the Edinburgh Live8 event. The text competition to win tickets for Edinburgh is now open. The text number is 84559 and the answer is A
Good luck
We will post more details as and when we have them to hand
I'm totally gutted, I'll be watching on TV if I don't get tickets and it won't be the same without Bob. See my other thread where I suggest a text petition
Even if they did get up on stage, there'd only be time for "Rat Trap" and "I Don't Like Mondays" which just wouldn't be enough!
It's still going to be a great concert........Has anyone had any success getting a ticket? I wonder what the total number of texts received was? And the odds of sending a successful text?
We've a few postcards written out for Murrayfield and will have to get a few texts off soon. The Thrills are on the bill so I'm motivated. "The Irish Keep Gate-crashing" could be an appropriate choice I think.
The reference to Bob and the band not appearing at Hyde Park referes to Bob's current band which is made up of Niall Power (drums), Vince Lovepump (violin, madolin, whistle, string vest), Johnny Turnbull (lead guitar), Alan Dunn (Keyboards, accordion) and of course life long friend of Bob and former Boomtown Rats bass player, Pete Briquette.
These musicians have been with Bob since he went solo, back in the late 80's. The proposed legal action you are refering to is of course made by the former members of the Boomtown Rats, who split as a band in 1986, with the exception of Pete Briquette.
I guess the decision for bob and the band not to play in Hyde Park, is propbably simply down to times and logistics.
Is THAT where Lovepump comes from? I didn't remember, I guess I'll have to rent the video again. I was just laughing at the string vests getting such a prominent mention. (Personally, I'm not a great fan of Vince in string vests. I prefer him in more "normal" attire.)
