EBAY PULLING DOWN LIVE8 AUCTIONS
Permalink Closed

I was just browsing round eBay to see these auctions. Some of them had bids of over £9m - I expect people were putting in ridiculous bids.

there were also some people putting up non-auctions saying don't bid on eBay - getting into slanging matches with people on the questions sections about the morals of selling tickets on eBay.

Then I heard on ITV news - due to immense pressure eBay are pulling Live8 auctions down. HOORAH!

Now Mr Geldof;

Now that ebay has prohibited the sale of the tickets, under NO pressure, only because they care, I think YOU should apologize for making comments about the promoting of Hackers, hell if you ever used a computer, you would know how destructive this can be.

Oh! and by the way, did you notice ebays comments about how they have donated funds to these coreses before...........................................................................................

Shame on you, for not waiting for a reply from ebay, before you start shouting your mouth off,

BUT then again you are used to that......................

Actually the tickets should have been pulled immediately by E bay as the terms under which they were available was quite clearly NOT for resale ! & the seller didn't even have the grace to reply to polite messages sent re withdrawing the tickets

E bay are very bad at not policing the auctions & waiting for complaints about items up for auction before acting

Bob Geldof,

You are just a bully.
Whatever one might think about moral side of the things, one has no right to impose his or her morality on others by Bolshevik methods.

It is not really free. It is paid by a lottery i.e. by the spectators.

There is nothing wrong if a poor student gets some money to pay his student fees after been lucky and winnig the lottery (at least it is not for Geldof who is not poor to moralize about it)

NO pressure?? Because they CARE? BWAH! That's farking laughable man. eBay is a BUSINESS, and unless people put the kind of pressure Bob put on them, they will close their eyes on shady dealings because they get a piece of the action. And according to this article, eBay DID refuse to pull the tickets until the pressure tactics started.

Geldof should never apologize for fighting for what he believes in. Keep shouting your mouth off Bob!

This is exactly what Hitler told to his followers when he asked them to boycott Jewish shops and break Jewish windows. And Hitler also fought for what he believed in.

Bullies with ideals are the worst kind of bullies.

To me it seems like Bob is trying to become a new furer - the left-wing and caring one, but still a furer.

I have to say I think Mr Geldof is a sorry excuse for a human being.

He doesn't know what he's doing from one day to the next and this eBay debacle is symptomatic of the lack of forethought and foresight that accompanies the majority of his actions.

Who could not have forseen that these tickets would have been offered up on eBay?  It's a no-brainer.  Where there's a market for something there will be people seeking to exploit this fact.  It's supply and demand and goes with the territory in capitalist society.  Preventative measures should have been put in place beforehand to prevent the resale of tickets rather than having this spoilt brat outburst we saw yesterday from this talentless egomaniac who should have stepped into the limelight long ago.

This publicity stunt will do nothing to help the needy and is a complete waste of time and I'm sorry that I have to come on here and air negative views on a Bob Geldof forum but then I don't appreciate having to endure him in the daily media, whether on television, the press or on the internet.

Live8 will be a shambles.  Of that I have no doubt.

He's not an idiot. The e-bay ticket sellers are the idiots. Who would even THINK of selling the tickets on e-bay for this kind of event? It's absurd. I would not have thought it could happen & I'm sure Sir Bob didnt't either. There are going to be a lot of things to learn about free concerts when this is over.

Most of those defending Geldof, are usally x or wantabe hippies, Peace man, more like peace off.

Geldof is after another putty medal, there are men and women that do good deeds every day of there life, and don't go off shouting about it, they just get stuck in and do what they have to do.

Geldof wants to be noticed, he is full of BULL..How dear he tell others what they should do, who the hell do he think he is, why oh why should we believe him, yet another jumping on the band wagon, for personal profits.............

ADMIN: As much as I hate closing threads, sometimes they just go too far.  I would not accept anyone calling another poster "a sorry excuse for a human being", so I will extend that right to Geldof himself now.  Heaven knows I have been critical of Geldof, in particular his musical output since 1986, but this is beyond criticism, and is just plain abuse.
