LIVE 8 TICKETS FOR SALE –LOTS!

I thought this would get your attention!

Before you shut and shout me down Moderator. I am NOT selling tickets

Immediately after Live 8 was announced 15,000 corporate tickets went on sale for up to £1,200

And many more…….

A BBC investigation found companies trading in these corporate tickets with impunity. One company promised to donate only 10% of their PROFIT to a charity, but could not say which one.

I sent Bob an email but did but receive a reply. I assumed this issue as of no issue to him.

I was therefore amazed to see and hear the OTT vitriolic way he responded to the revelation that a few ordinary punters took the decision to sell the tickets they had legally and  contractually bought/won/acquired – perfectly reasonable given that such actions would have no effect on ANY poor or dying people in Africa. And the Bob had said he did not want our money – only our awareness.

Actually he could have had both!

I still failed to understand Bob’s justification for the statements about: “profiting on the back of the impoverished”

On a radio phone in someone accused Bob of “profiting on the back of the impoverished”

Because of many matters such as:

  1. He is making money from his book about Africa
  2. in 1986 he sold 300,000 of his autobiography – as a direct result of the famine in Ethiopia

When I found a ticket agency selling £1.50 for £500. I was even more convinced Bob had got his prioritizes wrong.

My point is that Bob should not have one rule for the rich and one for the poor. It is the missionary colonialist mentality If corporate tickets for this FREE event can be traded. Joe public should have the same human rights.

How much money has the mobile company (O2) made from administering the texting? £500,000?

The 15,000 privilege Gold Circle tickets holders will be at the front protected by a tall fence and security guards. Ordinary people will be 100 meters away stretching their necks to see the stage. Is this fair? Is this equitable? Will these wealthy VIPs be made any more AWARE BECAUSE THEY HAVE PAID £1,200- £5,000?

Don’t tell me Live 8 needing the money. They have already made £3 million from the texting - £1.5 million will be given to the Princess Trust. That leaves £1.5 million. The stage will already be erected from the Wireless festival A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE.

There will also be numerous other sources of income – I could tell you a few.

Sir Bob can't possibly be "making money" selling his books. I work in a bookstore and, although it's in the US and there's not the same interest in British artists as there is in the UK, of course, nobody has asked about his new book, which is not out yet, or his previous book, which no one ever has asked for & I only just found out about recently via this forum. In fact, truth be told, no one has asked about Bono's books either for that matter. But otherwise, once again you have some very valid questions and food for thought. My further comment is that perhaps Sir Bob doesn't have time to answer the e-mails with which by now he must be swamped. It's not that he doesn't care. Anyway, you have indeed made some good points here. Thanks.
