Geldof TV & Radio Coverage


Over the next couple of days there are quite a few opportunities to catch Geldof on UK TV & Radio. Here are a few of the details:


Date: Saturday 18th June
Channel: BBC2

Programme: Live Aid - Against All Odds


The story of how a pop tune cobbled together in the back of a taxi became a life-line for Ethiopia's starving. Against the backdrop of Thatcher's booming Britain, a Boomtown Rat is attempting a world first: A global televised gig to raise money for Ethiopia's forgotten famine victims. But with only weeks to go, Bob Geldof has no line-up, no broadcaster and no venues. So how did he achieve the impossible? Elton John, Queen, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, U2 and others recall how he cajoulled them into taking part.

After 12 weeks of manic preparation, the day of Live Aid - 13th July 1985 has finally arrived. But will it pay off, and more importantly will the punters pay up? The luminous continent. Bob Geldof begins a personal journey across Africa, travelling the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Masailand. This six part series is part of the BBC's Live in Africa Series.

Time: 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Programme: 20th Anniversary of Live Aid - first of a 2 part series.


Phil Collins presents and inspirational and nostalgic look at the 1985 16 hour pop fundraiser that added over £110m to an Ethiopian Famine Relief campaign. Interviews and music from many of the acts involved in the event, including Bob Geldof, Promoter Harvey Goldsmith, Bono, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Sting, Brian May, Elvis Costello and others.

Programme: Geldof In Africa - Second of six part series


Cocoa, slaves and goo, Geldof continues his colourful journey across Africa, taking in Ghana and Benin, where he visits and old British slave fort, a cocoa plantation and the Vatican City of voodoo, Ouidha.
