I have been in contact with John Turnbull(Bobs guitar player) and he told me that they recorded about 30 songs but he does not know what ones will end up on the album. He also stated that they sounded really good.

"Bobs Bew (sic) Album is almost finished and should be released beginning of May 2010. "
whatever that is, I can't wait to get my hands on it!
I think their big clumsy pinkies hit the wrong key (B rather than N). All very quiet though as far as any details on the album. I would have thought it would have been on Amazon as they show pre-releases for a couple of months.

Good point ArrGee. I've often seen pre-releases on Amazon up to 8 months in advance.

I must admit the lack of promotion really annoys me.We are possibly about 5/6 weeks from a new album and it feels like nothing is happening.I know bobgeldof.info is getting a makeover and we will just have to wait and see what happens.
It is frustrating, Bob never really has been one for keeping the fans up with his news. If it wasn't the fact he has lots of money there is no way he could keep a band going the way he treats his fans. You only have to look at lesser groups trying to find and keep a fan base. They utilise facebook, myspace etc to the full. Bob alas, only seems to bother to give us information once or twice a year. It's not easy being a Bob fan!

I would argue the updates are less frequent than that...
Not really sure Geldof is too bothered whether or not his albums sell, especially in the UK. It has been 8 years since his last and I don't know if there any interest outside the die hard fans. Even some of us who may have been considered die hard 8 years ago, ain't any more (That's people like me!).
My expectations are low. A Geldof album is way down my list of must have records, given the patchy nature of the last four. Hopefully it will appear on spotify so I can listen to it.
I just hope he makes an album he likes and his fans like.

Depends on your point of view I guess. I wouldn't class myself as a Geldof fan, so the fact there is little/no information doesn't bother me too much. As a Rats fan, the RAM page http://www.rockartistmanagement.com/page/boomtown_rats does give regular updates on the proposed dates, and is always worth an occasional look at. Maybe some more details than "out soon" on the EP would be good (the album was "out soon" since 2008), but there is a sense of something happening.
Anyway, I care about all you Geldof fans, so you can't say nobody does. I understand your suffering, but you are all welcome here Along with Gung~Ho, Greengate and JiggeryPipery fans, though no one has claimed to come on here as a basis of their work (yet). Lines are drawn on offspring of any Rats unless one day one of them makes a musical recoding of worth, though that doesn't exclude comments on Gung~ho - boom boom! (a little unfair as I did like Play to Win).
I suspect there will be promotional activity forthcoming. Who knows Geldof may even do a few TV appearances and possible some dates in the UK and Europe (Hay-on-Wye at the end of May perhaps?).
