Queen were said to be the band of the day at LiveAid. A spectacular performance by a long established and hugely popular band. Will U2 take the crown at Live8? What do you think?

I'm sure someone like Dido would be the Queen of Live 8.

BUT if you mean who will rack up their record sales despite making pretty much the same sort of music for umpteen years, then.......

I suspect that though Razorlight/The Killers should be the U2 of Live 8, it will be the Stereophonics who take that mantle.

I'm honestly not sure. Was Live Aid one of Queen's last performances?

If so, then I'd say Pink Floyd is the Queen of Live 8.

Well, since you bring it up.....

Ah
If there’s a cure for this
I don’t want it
Don’t want it
If there’s a remedy
I’ll run from it
From it

Think about it all the time
Never let it out of my mind
’cause I love you

I’ve got the sweetest hangover
I don’t wanna get over
Sweetest hangover

Yeah, I don’t wanna get over
I don’t wanna get
I don’t wanna get...over

Ooh, I don’t need no cure
I don’t need no cure
I don’t need no cure

Sweet lovin’
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love

Don’t call a doctor
Don’t call her momma
Don’t call her preacher

No, I don’t need it
I don’t want it

Sweet love, I love you
Sweet love, need love

If there’s a cure for this
I don’t want it
I don’t want it no
If there’s a cure for this
I don’t need it
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love

That said, perhaps Diana Ross will be The Queen?

LOL Fran, that was funny!

I don't want any medicine for the U2 flu, quite happy to have it. I've got a very severe case of it. U2 to be the new Queen.

Talking of Queen...............Are they going to be performing at Live 8???

Brian May said they couldn't make it as they've a gig that night in Lisbon, but would be there in spirit.......but I see today that they're listed in the Sunday Times TV guide as performers at Hyde Park.

Not that I'm saying Queen will be the Queen of Live 8 as I don't think that's possible without Freddie Mercury..........

I think we'll just have to see who performs the outstanding set on the day and does a "Queen". Anything can happen! (I can't wait!)

 1) Thank you, Jules.

 2) You have to understand, I never thought Queen was The Queen in the first place.  I always thought U2 was The Queen.  If there was one.

 3) I was waiting on the checkout line at the local Virgin Megastore when the Donna Summer track "I Feel Love" came on, transporting me back in time.  I realized how well that stuff actually holds up 30 years on, and that's probably what made me think of "Love Hangover" when I got home.  Props to Diana and Donna.  I think I own the Diana (er, excuse me, Miss Ross), not so sure about the Donna.  I'll have to look around (I don't know what I have anymore).  If I don't have Donna, that track's now on the "must get" list.

 4) I have no prediction on who will be The Queen.  May the best man win.
