55,000 MORE HYDE PARK LIVE 8 TICKETS TO BE MADE AVAILABLE
Extra LIVE 8 tickets are set to be made available for this Saturday's (July 2) LONDON event.
Another 55,000 free tickets, that will give access to giant screens on the south side of the Serpentine lake, will be issued in pairs from various locations around the country from 3pm on June 29.
Tickets will be distributed from the following places:
London Carling Hammersmith Apollo
London Stargreen Tickets (Argyll Street)
London Apollo Victoria
London Dominion Theatre
Birmingham Alexandra Theatre
Bristol Hippodrome
Cardiff International Arena
Manchester Palace Theatre
Oxford New Theatre
Southampton Guildhall
Additionally, following talks with the Metropolitan Police, the London event will now continue until 9.30pm.
Commenting on the extra tickets organiser Bob Geldof said: “This is going to be the biggest event in Hyde Park's history and the biggest ticketed event ever in the UK. The Park will be filled to the brim. In other cities around the country and around the world millions of people will be joining in to make poverty history. It will be one of those defining moments that come around once in a generation.”
For those who don't get tickets, Live 8 have also arranged for the concert to be shown on giant outdoor screens around the UK in order to discourage ticket-less fans from gathering in London.
Organisers say that those who miss out on a ticket should stay away from Hyde Park on Saturday, as room will be severely limited.
"If you don't have tickets don't come to Hyde Park; go to one of the other screens around the country or better yet get up to Edinburgh and make your voice heard," a spokesman said.
The concert will be shown on screens in the following places: Liverpool, Manchester, Oldham, Hull, Wrexham, Inverness, Leeds, Cardiff, Gateshead/Newcastle, Belfast, Jersey, Guernsey, Bournemouth/ Plymouth, and Birmingham.
Fantastic day it's gonna be on Saturday but just a small comment. Why none of the 55000 extra tickets on offer up here in the north. Newcastle is or should at least be considered for tickets. I'm already in London at the weekend but cant get down before wednesday to get tix. It's always us up here in the deepest darkest north that miss out.
