Here at bobgeldof.info HQ we have our nose to the grind trying to answer the 100's of emails, about the Live 8 gig, mostly congratulatory. A few rather nasty and cynical.
Of course it was a great day for Bob and the many accolades being poured onto his shoulders are totally founded. But the one person who does not seem to get the recognition he deserves, is the man who put the whole thing together. Not only yesterday, but 20 years ago.
Promoter, Harvey Goldsmith deserves to be recognised for the tremendous work he does. He was the person at the pressure end dealing with the artists, equipment, logisitcs, TV. The list is endless.
Obviously Bob is the person in the media spotlight. But Harvey was the man who put the nuts and bolts together.
And you have my apologies for that segment of the US U2 fanbase which is currently flooding your inbox to complain about our Live 8 TV coverage. Just hit delete. (Or forward them all to Harvey. I'm sure that's just what he needs right now. LOL)
As far as I could tell, it didn't rain in any show city anywhere in the world. God smiled on this event, too.
Thanks to *everyone* involved in yesterdays event for giving us such a good day and getting the message out to so many. Let's hope for some success next week. I enjoyed my day yesterday.
