It's updated every 5 seconds or so. You can't make out individuals but can see the Caledonian Hotel in the distance (West End of Princes Street). Enjoy.....
Public order trained officers are being deployed in central Edinburgh to contain sporadic incidents by several hundred activists intent on causing major disruption.
The activists were clearly determined to confront police and were behaving in a threatening and confrontational manner. Officers wearing public order gear have been deployed to try to keep people and premises safe in the central area of the city.
There have been instances of missiles being thrown and weapons recovered and escalating disorderly behaviour.
This afternoon ACC Ian Dickinson condemned the behaviour as wholly unacceptable and threatening to the people of Edinburgh and the police. "We have always been prepared to talk to them to help them stage peaceful protest but it is clear that was never on their agenda. They have been determined to challenge the community and the police service for their own selfish agenda to inflict disruption and significant disorder.
"We will deal robustly with anyone who behaves in this manner and deploy all the officers we have at our disposal to stop them inflicting mayhem on our communities."
Mr Dickinson has also advised business in the vicinity of the current disturbances to consider closing to protect their premises and the safety of their staff.
Intensive police resources will remain in Edinburgh until the whole situation is resolved.
The time says 15:47 and on my computer it's some buses? on a virtually empty street? Correct? I hope everything turns out OK, peaceful with one voice, minimum damage to all, and the message gets through, the main idea.
The only reason that Princes Street is empty is that there are only buses and taxis allowed along most of it. We are all here hoping that everything will be peaceful tomorrow and there will be no more trouble. The main concert is being held at Murrayfield Rugby Statium on Wednesday. Click on to the Edinburgh web cam then, i think things will be different. Hope again that everything will be peaceful, people in Africa will benefit, but lets wait and see.
