well, I'm in no doubt that something will happen, what and how bad it will be...we'll just have to see...Hopeing for it to be calm won't help right now, but I, and many more of course, do anyway..

Do the protesters care? NO! What a pile of crock!! I am in favour of helping the people of Africa but not in this way!! Tell the so called protesters that have to cover their faces with clown masks or balaclavas to behave like adults and not COWARDS!!

well..what can I say, you know? I know that certain people will come to these things to cause trouble, to fight others. I wish they wouldn't, but there's nothing I can do ( I think??) besides wishing for it to be peaceful and stay at home..

So far over a hundred people have been arrested and 21 people injured. I knew this would happen, and i bet there's more to come. I really feel sorry for the police that were hurt, but not the demonstrators. It was the demonstrators choice to be at the protests, not the police. The protesters are saying that the police were heavy handed, but the police must have had a reason!!.

Let's hope that the Sherrif fines the protesters heavily. That way this money could go towards the damage that they have caused. Failing that then they should be made to clear up the mess and damage that they have caused.

Quote from the Sun newspaper today "police chiefs vowed their "robust" tactics would continue. But one anarchist warned "they haven't seen anything yet". Nice peaceful protests, i think not!!!.

Of course now all those who suggested there might be trouble will be condemned as being "smug". That is not the case...we didn't ask for these people to come to Edinburgh..we sure as hell didn't invite them...but we will be left to clean up their mess.

I watched the proceedings on the Live Webcam from Edinburgh and played "count the policeman" (at one point I saw 15 vans on Princes Street..and that was just the small area where the camera was focused). I then watched the TV reports which showed an extremely scared little girl with her dad huddling in a shop doorway as the protesters threw debris close by. Welcome to Edinburgh...

The Forth Bridge has police stationed all along it, there are helicopters buzzing round the city, I spoke to a lady stuck in an office on the High Street who said it was "terrifying". That was 3pm yesterday and she was about to heed the police calls to send staff home. Tomorrow will no doubt bring similar scenes as that "million people" descend on Edinburgh...will the anarchists stay away as they've had their day?..I doubt it..they will be there...miggling with the peaceful protesters, waiting for that golden moment when they can let the world know they exist (sad pathetic little people I know but that's the reality of it...).

I'd stay at home but some of us actually have to work for a living..so I'll pass the lines of police officer (some in riot gear) and hope I get to work and home from work safely like the other Edinburgh citizens that are simply trying to do their job..

One day down, a few more to go...then hopefully back to normal..the tourists enjoying our wonderful city, the locals eating ice cream in Princes Street garden when it's sunny..instead of black clad thugs, boarded windows and fear.

"At around 2.30pm, the demonstrators were forced into Princes Street Gardens, where the gates were secured with padlocks and chains. As the crowd surged down the embankment, they uprooted flowers and threw them at police. Things quickly turned nastier, as glass bottles and a metal bin were hurled at officers.

The protesters picked up memorial benches and used them as battering rams to try to charge at the police lines.

Aga Haba, who runs the Coffee Pavilion in the Gardens, was trapped inside the hut where she works for around an hour. She said: "We closed up very quickly when we saw the protesters approaching. When they came into the Gardens, it was very frightening. I was terrified."

George Mullay, 73, of Duddingston, and his wife Ann, 73, were caught in the trouble as skirmishes continued the length of Princes Street. Mr Mullay, who was outside Bhs at around 3.30pm, said: "They were smashing windows at the West End. This is no carnival - shops are barricaded and there are people on top of bus stops."

His wife added: "It's a bit frightening, I've lived in Edinburgh all my life and lived through a war and I've never seen anything like this before."

Having seen the pictures of the riots in edinburgh i was totally disgusted. Ripping up memorial benches to use as battering rams against the police!!!. Do these people not realise the amount of people that they have hurt emotionally. People put these benches in Princes Street to remember their loved ones and to do what these people done was just pathetic. Not to mention ripping up the flowers etc. How long did it take to plant these!!. The anarchists do not give a dam. They are nothing but the lowest of the low, and as a writer to the evening news said (quote) "I had to laugh at the hypocrisy of many of those at the Make Poverty History march, wearing brand-name shoes and clothes made in sweatshops by Asians who earn a few cents an hour".

Let's wait until tomorrow. I bet it will be far more worse than yesterday, because of those poor pathetic anarchists (thugs) who are hell bent on causing trouble.
