Mojo review - *** - but positive....

While I await the special vinyl edition, I sneaked a look at a fairly positive review for Geldof's album, which referred to him and Pete as Mick & Keef (heaven help Pete!).  As good as Clapton, which I suppose ain't too bad.

As good as Clapton? EC sounds a bit dull and turgid to me - wish they'd said it sounded like proper song writers like  Andy Partrige of XTC or Peter Perrott of the Only Ones - or even  Syd Barrett - people with a bit of imagination and great lyricists. Always aim to be like the best!

Sorry, what I should have written was Clapton's album got *** from Mojo as well, so *** for Geldof isn't too bad.     I haven't got a Clapton album for years, so I don't know how dull and turgid he is these days.

Sorry if anybodys a  Clapton fan as no offence was meant. I shouldnt comment of music I know little about. You say Geldof has got a fairly good review but remember a critic is only a frustrated musician who doesnt pay for his cds. and also may have a hangover and a stack of cds to review. Tough work but someones gotta do it!

Possibly in Sept issue of MOJO magazine. As the Rats once sang on Hard Times  "The only act of revolution left/ is thinking for yourself", but we like our opinions to be  validated by the critics as well. Such is human nature.
